Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

The Lux II in the Limited is, besides the leather dash and piping on the seat edges and IMO fugly wood steering wheel, is the same. I would pay money to NOT have that steering wheel and I can't see leather being ideal as a dashpad on a long term vehicle.. To each their own.

Ya know, every decision that saves me 40 bucks a month, puts me years closer to an early retirement. My GC Limited fits my business allowance as is, so that's what I drive. I wanted the Diesel engine more than the interior fluff. Of course we all justify what we want, so again, to each their own.

I wanted an overland for the interior and body colored exterior trim, but the air ride suspension was a deal breaker for me. Not only for reliability reasons, but I knew id never be able to get a lift and 33" tires.

Glad you found what makes you happy though.

The Overland interior is head and shoulders above the Limited.
The technology & quadra trac are better & the Overland rides nicer.

There's not 1 thing I can honestly say that the Limited has over the Overland. You're going to have the car for 10 years, so the difference boils down to $450 a year or $37.50 a month...

Sit in the Overland, then sit in a Limited....
I guarantee you, the feeling you get in the luxurious Overland is well worth the difference in price.. PLUS it has the Indigo Blue/Jeep Brown interior you like!! Here's some teaser pics.. Can't you just envision yourself in this??
You're kidding me, right? So, my Limited with Lux II has the same leather seats as yours. I have the RA4 UConnect system - same as yours. ORA II - gives me Quadradrive II (which you apparently don't have, and is superior to quadra trac, given the ELSD), as well as QL.

What I don't have is some fancy piping on the seats and a leather dash. Ok...I'll give you those. But I don't need those.

And you're going to tell me you're so much more comfortably and lux than me?

And for good measure...

And, also for good measure to add an exclamation point to my post, I'm quoting Excusion's as well.

No argument from me, you essentially have an Overland, less the luxury.
Probably paid more too, so I question getting the Limited with all the added packages.. Yes, you didn't get the wood wheel & leather dash I know..

I don't have the Advanced Tech pkg, my sticker was $47,190
I'm curious what yours stickered for with the packages you have.

Kinda hart not to sticker higher when you've got more on your car...say, for instance, the diesel engine in mine.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

Equally configured, an Overland will be about $2500 more than a Limited. That $2500 buys you a nicer (debatable, I know) interior, under seat lighting and puddle lights. $2500 is a lot of money for what you get. BUT I LOVE the Indigo interior, so I WANT it. The only thing I don't like about the Overland is the wood steering wheel. But I don't hate it either. Just slightly prefer the all leather wheel of the LTD.

BUT, I do not need it and it isn't very practical. And I like the True Blue exterior quite a bit more than the Granite on the Overland.

I can see both sides here. Money no object, most would take the Overland. Money is an object, and like Excursion I wonder if the leather will still look nice in 10 years and I question the value of what really is "fluff". Granted it'll be garage kept, so the leather probably will be fine in 10 years, but who knows for sure?

I really want to wait for mine to arrive, but the clock is ticking and if it doesn't ship within 10 days I HAVE to go to plan B. The ATG and Indigo interior of the Overland would be a very nice consolation prize for "settling" for the Granite exterior. I could always rent a car for a couple weeks too, but if I rent for too long I'd rather put that money into an Overland than throw it away on a rental.

Anyway, not an easy choice for me. 1st world problems though, right? I mean come on, the LTDs and Overlands are BOTH REALLY REALLY nice rides. That's why I'm sticking it out and not switching to something else. There's nothing else out there that feels like a good fit.

Yep, real hardware. I paid 46k out the door and MSRP was 49600. Lux2, ORA2, RA4, Diesel, no ATG. The $1595 ATG was required on the Overland Diesel option, if I recall. So the other adders where $2500. The Overland would have been 4k more. I didn't want the painted fender trim, autodimming passenger mirror, ATG, or other small "luxury" trim items. Just seemed like trivial differences for 4k and didn't justify me blowing my budget. If money was no object, I'd probably make the same choice but add ATG just for the ACC feature. I ordered on day 1 and we didn't have much feedback on ACC yet.

This has been discussed to death and it boils down to $2.5k to 4k difference depending on your preference for ATG and I think the ATG was requirement dropped recently.

I totally agree. I almost bought the Overland, but didn't like the wood wheel, and the fact that the dash "open pore" wood was different than the steering wheel's glossy wood. Got the Limited with Lux and never looked back.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

Gosh I love the wood wheel. Especially on cold days since it heats up the most.

So the dash trim wood on the '14's has a matte finish? Interesting.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

Well I guess that since the V6 vs V8 thread got locked now we can start another similarly productive debate about Limited vs Overland.

Zhe Wiz, I would say don't compromise on whatever it is you really want, especially if you're going to keep the car for a long time. It really sucks that you're having to wait so long for yours, but my advice (which is worth what you paid for it) is try not to let that affect your decision. Get what you want because you want it, not because it's close enough and available. Rent a crappy car if you have to. In the long run you'll be happier having exactly what you want.

I would have been 100% fine with a loaded Limited but the "vain" impractical aesthetic features of the Overland called to me. The only thing I'm not sure about is the wood on the steering wheel. But I figure if I hate it I can always swap the wheel out for an all-leather Limited wheel from eBay.

I ordered my limited with every option I could get (i got the hemi! I know, I know that thread is closed but it made for some fun reading)minus lux group and kicking my self in a$$ now. My reasoning (bad reasoning as I see it now) was the limited will have less resale if I order it with all options, essentially an overland, but not an overland. If that makes sense. I love the quadra lift and creature comforts but if I had to do it again I would go for overland. Now hemi or diesel (wasnt available when I ordered) might be a difficult choice. So long post short I'd get the overland unless the exterior color is a deal breaker for u.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

See my sig? See my sig??

Maybe they'll have both when I get to DC so I can take one last peek, but the one I ordered is the one I want. Looks like I won't have to "settle" as odd as that sounds when referring to an Overland instead of a Limited. Could be the booze talking from my wild night of celebration.
