Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

I think to everyone posting, its all good..
The loaded Limited works for sure, especially if you don't care for the amenities of the Overland. Some of us do, so we go that route!

To the OP, I waited almost 6 months for an ordered Challenger which didn't come in (like your situation) couldn't take the wait & wanted to DRIVE, so I ended up getting one off the dealers lot, so I know how you feel...

Tough decision especially when one is sitting there ready for you to pick up!
Good luck with your new ride, whichever you pick!

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

Hi guys, new member here in early picking-my-new-GC mode. I'm pretty sure what I want is either a loaded Limited or an Overland, 4x4 diesel. I finally got to drive them yesterday - an Overland 4x2 with the six, and a Limited 4x4 diesel. The test drive sold me on the diesel as I knew it would.

But here's the thing - and it's going to sound trivial, but - the very first thing I noticed when I sat in the Overland was the dash stitching reflecting in the windshield. Does that drive anybody crazy, or do you pretty quickly just program it out and stop seeing it?

This alone might be enough to tilt me towards the Limited if I could get the brown/blue interior in the Limited, but it seems I can't. Or ... if you get the upgraded interior (is that Lux II?) in the Limited do you end up with that pesky dash stitching anyway?

I noticed that reflection in the windshield as well, when I test drove the Overland. Don't know whether or not one would get used to it. My business partner has a 2013 Overland, and has had his dash replaced, twice, due to the leather bubbling at the corners of the dash, near the A pillars. Don't know if this is an isolated case, or if this is a common problem.

I noticed it for a day or two, and haven't noticed it again in 13 months.

Also, polarized sunglasses make it completely disappear.

I would not let it sway your decision either way.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

No leather dash on the Limited, Lux II or otherwise, so no stitching either.

Whether you have the leather dash or not, polarized sunglasses FTW.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

Yeah that stitching is a common complaint. My wife noticed when we test drove an Overland. i noticed it when I first sat down, but it disappeared when driving. It never bothered me. I wouldn't make my decision based on that for sure.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

Well I finally had to give up on my ordered Jeep. 4 weeks in inspection and no end in sight. I agreed to buy the Crystal Granite/Indigo Blue Overland they had on the lot.

Really sucks that Jeep gives problem Jeeps such a low priority.

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

In my very biased opinion, that is absolutely the best color combo available. We absolutely love it and the granite changes color in different light, while the indigo looks really classy, and does not show marks and dirt as much as a light interior does. Just my $0.02 worth anyway. Enjoy!

What amenities are you talking about? I do not thing "ExcursionDiesel" could have been any more clear. Leather Dashboard, Puddle Lights, seat Piping, Wood Steering Wheel, Overland Logo and Power-Folded Mirrors are neither amenities nor worth 2500. In fact I would have paid to NOT have those on the car (apart from power folding mirrors which I manually fold about once every 2 months).

ORA II; Lux and Adv. Tech Pkg. and you got a cheaper Overland. That 2500 dollar difference between the similarly equipped Limited and Overland should really be only $750 in MSRP - and I still would not buy the Overland over a Limited.

It really depends on where you buy it. Locally, I could get a "better" price (less % relative to invoice) on an Overland. Dealers for whatever reason weren't willing to discount Limiteds as much. However with the group buys that are a flat % off of invoice, you are correct re: the price difference.

However you also left off "body colored lower trim" from your list of "amenities".

To each his own bro..
I love the high end car the Overland is..
I use the power fold mirrors all the time while parking, LOVE the puddle lights, blue indigo w/ white seat piping & the wood steering wheel.. the grip is prefect!.. so for me the Overland is a better choice..

Re: Overland vs Limited Dilemma

I don't think the Overland is "worth" the extra cost either...when that difference is $2500. For me though (much like Rumline points out), I was comparing relatively un-discounted Limiteds at various dealers around the country to the 6% (roughly after you add the $500 fee) discount at Koon's. I couldn't get anyone to go 4% below invoice on a Limited Diesel. So for me, the Limited and Overland were about $1200 apart. Couple that $1200 difference with the fact that the Limited was 800 miles away and the Overland only 350 miles away, the Overland became worth it to me.

So, everyone has to make their own decision of whether or not the Overland is "worth" it. It's nice to have choices. Both vehicles are quite luxurious compared to my old Subarus and Toyotas.

I can't say I'm disappointed with my decision, but I haven't made a payment or turned a key yet!
