Re: P20EE on 15 and 16 GC

Not an added 8/120 by the way not 125. The total for a service contract is limited to just that 8/120. Are you really speaking of a maintenance contract or was that a mistake?
My CAT was replaced at 25K miles and closing in on 39K now zero issues...14 model Dec 19 2013 build. I think you have little to worry about.

I only had to pay the difference between a 2014 and a 2016 model, which was $1000, plus tax on that amount which was only $65. Funny thing is that I was due for new brakes and new tires, which would have been well over a thousand dollars. I had to endure 4 months of headaches, many trips to the shop, 3 months without my jeep, lost sleep, countless phone calls...... However, I came out with a really sweet deal in the end.
Good one, about the milesge usage fee. Lemon laws are state specific and fortunately MN doesn't ding you. CA does, however my problems started early, st 3,767 miles, and so my usage fee is only about $1,000. Put another way, the rest of my miles, about 34,000 of them, are fee-free to me. Not bad.

My case was pretty straightforward, fortunately. I started at the dealer's service manager and customer relations manager, and both agreed I had a strong case. I gave them copies of my chronological list, as described in my thread on this, and with the problems highlighted in blue. The highlighting clearly showed a systemic problem.

I gave that same report to Jeep FCA. They tried pushing back, and they were good at it and starting to piss me off. But I collected myself, remained calm and kept using the phrase 'systemic problem' while showing them that highlighted report. It didn't take long, they relented and now my replacement is close.

But, it ain't over until it's over, and it ain't over yet. Close, but not done.

Sorry to lesrn of your process difficulties. In the end, it's great that you came out with that really sweet deal! Nice!

Do you think the vehicle you are turning in will be a good vehicle for the next customer? or have you just had it with it and never want to see it again...

Who, me? That's an interesting question. It has been rock solid reliable without any glitches since I got it back, however, its documented history clearly shows a systemic deficiency that includes stretches of many miles without any problems, and yet also stretches of many miles where there have been many problems.

It is hard to tell, hard to predict what the future of this car holds.

I will say this, that it's not the case that I don't ever want to see it again, and if I ever met its next owner I won't feel sorry for him/her. I do hope it will be reliable for them, and I think there's a reasonable chance that it will be.

For me, though, in under two years of ownership, having it 8x to the shop and out of service for 54 days was a significant hassle.

That's too bad, because other than that I really like the car. When Jeep works out the bugs, and it seems they have with the '15s and '16s, they've got a winner of a car there.

Hope that answers your question...?

Re: P20EE on 15 and 16 GC

For me, the problem was resolved, but almost 90 days in the shop over 2 years was too much. In the end, the problems were fixed, so I think the next owner should be fine. However, due to the headaches I had, I wanted a new Jeep. When I paid what I did for a new Jeep, I expected better. The next guy will have a Jeep that will be labeled a buy back so they should know going in that there were issues. Also, they won't be paying nearly as much as I did for the Jeep. Jeep had to make a custom part for mine to fix the issue in the end. As long as that part doesn't fail, the next owner should be fine. The Jeep had the CAT replaced, the heads and head gaskets replaced, and the turbo charger replaced. The last 2 months of ownership were trouble free.
