Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

Has anyone made a catch can? And the cheap billet catch cans off ebay will they work?

Cornering too fast.... that would be me.

It's interesting, this catch can thing sounds so much like the device I learned of back in the '80s, called a "Condensator". I installed one in my '86 D150. It had a filter-like section filled with beads of some sort, and stuff that condensed fell into a glass jar. Every oil change I'd empty about 1/4" of dark liquid out of it. It never increased fuel economy as promised... not sure if it did anything good at all.

With ULSD, it sounds like the problems experienced in the Liberty CRD may not manifest in these 3L units. But if it does, I think I will be happy with a lifetime service contract to take care of it.

Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

I see Provent kits sold for either 1/2" or 5/8" crankcase outlets. Can someone verify which size crankcase outlet the 2014 GC diesel uses. Thanks.

I don't know what you're driving but this is how I installed one in my '13 5.7 Overland.
They included a bracket that bolts onto the fuse box

Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

I've got the catch can installed but just got a "P04DB CRANKCASE VENTILATION SYSTEM DISCONNECTED " CEL code.

I wonder why I am getting that (checked all lines are good) and how is it sensing it?

Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

Ya I will take a pic when its done raining. Had to get a bit creative as both ends of the Provent are 1", have to adapt to 5/8th's on the crankcase vent out and 7/8th's on the air intake. The bottom drain is 1/2".

Definitely works, caught some oil just after a few short drives. Reset CEL, hasn't come on again yet.
