Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

Please don't buy the cheap Chinese copy one and buy the original American made one. You can tell the difference in that the American one has the logo and writing on the top. The knockoff doesn't. The American original will surely be higher quality.,

I looked at those and for the extra few $$ I decided to go with the American made product and it's been working beautifully.

Are you using the one designed for the N54 engine in the 335i? (http://r.ebay.com/hKSOF3) I wonder why the others are $20 more expensive. Anyway, it looks like this "bavarian-autosport" eBay store sells the American ones and ship for free.

Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

I'm not sure the difference. I believe there may be a larger can and different bracket. I purchased the N54

Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

The cans are the same. The difference in price are some just have more elaborate brackets/tubes.

Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

Could there be any possible warranty issues with these? Forgive the noob question, this is my first diesel and my first turbo...

It doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal to remove the can temporarily if it came to that.

Not sure, but if you are worried you can put the vehicle back to stock since there is no modification to the factory hoses.

Finally pulled my finger out and fitted my provent that had been sitting in the garage for the last 12 months. Should have done it back then cause I reckon the turbo and intercooler will be oiled. The existing tube was very very wet.

Any ways here are some happy snaps. 25mm used except where i reduced to 16mm on the motor outlet.

Cheers

Here are some happy snaps.

36K, BP Ultimate and a catch can from 20k.

Intake is already well coated and there is no way I will be putting a cleaner thru to dislodge that crap into my combustion chamber. Its slimy oil from the the PCV not hard caked on carbon.

I will leave the EGR in after my tune and pull it out at 46k.

Catch can should be installed from new.

Re: PCV line / Oil Catch can

I haven't looked at my inlet manifold for a while, but last time I looked the catch can was doing a pretty reasonable job, certainly getting plenty of oil.

I would hate to see the inlet manifold with no catch can.
Fitting one is a no brainier as far as I'm concerned.

Must have a look and see how it's going!!
