Performance figures- magnaflow exhaust

For those that read my other thread regarding my Mangaflow exhaust install, and recall my disappointment in sound and initial performance...I decided to update with some numbers. Before I installed the exhaust, I made ten 0-60 runs on the freeway. Right after install I decided to hell with it, and didn't feel the need to make post-install runs.
However, after doing my daily commute this week, I actually started noticing the GC, even when in Eco mode, didn't feel as sluggish. Maybe the computer had time to learn the new exhaust?

Just to see if it was in my head, I went and replicated the exact same runs I did before the install. Granted, I don't have scientific data recorders. I simply used my phone with a performance app, so take the numbers however you want. In short, I'm quite surprised. In performance/sport mode, the GC actually broke traction once, and the initial launch was noticeably more forceful.

I averaged about 9 seconds 0-60 before the install. (On 20" wheels 33" A/T tires.) my best run was in the mid 8s. After the install, as you see in the pics, I averaged low 8s and broke into the 7 seconds a couple times with a best of 7.65. The post install gained almost a full second on 0-60 times. I find it hard to believe myself, but I was there...so it is what it is.

Red numbers are stock, blue numbers are after the exhaust install. You can also see in one pic that the lateral acceleration G's increased which explains the difference I was feeling at launch.

I will let everyone form their own opinions and discuss. As for me, I'm still disappointed that removing the exhaust nets zero difference in sound, but I am impressed with the performance, even in everyday drivability. I'm still unsure it's worth $1400. I'll leave that up to everyone else to decide, as I am not advocating one way or the other....just sharing my experience, FWIW.

This on the 2014 3.0 EcoDiesel? If so, is it a Cat/DPF back system? Most diesels won't get any louder unless you eliminate the mufflers and increase the pipe size. The turbo, Cat, and DPF all choke the sound regardless of anything you do.

Edit: Just looked at the Magnaflow exhaust...very nice. If it really increased 0-60 performance significantly, then the next step is Cold Air/Free Flow intake. Intake and exhaust on a turbodiesel can have a greater affect than with N/A engines due to better response from the turbo. I'm excited to see what's next.

Question for you: The video sounded very different from stock. How is the interior noise? My diesel Excursion has no cats and a straight 5" pipe to duals, no mufflers. Its significantly louder inside the truck. The GC is too refined to ruin with a noisy cabin IMO.

That right there. I love having this truck be quiet and I get to enjoy my 19-speaker system at decent volume levels.

Correct. 2014 ecodiesel, it is a dpf back system. 0.25 inches bigger than stock diameter.

The way the engine is designed, it will never sound like your typical diesel. It was engineered to be quieter. This is unfortunate for me because I love the diesel clatter, but I understand many do not.
I can tell absolutely zero difference in sound. I did a comparison video of the exhaust sound, stock vs magnaflow. I just have get around to editing and uploading it.

What size are the exhaust tips? It doesn't look like there is much clearance to the rear fascia cut outs. Looks really good and looking forward to hearing your sound clip.

If you're getting that sort of acceleration increase, I can't wait to see what it does for mpg!!

Are you aware of how much power a set of cans would have to be freeing up in order to gain a second on the 0-60? The stock cans could have been a couple of pieces of pipe with potatoes stuck in them designed by Mrs Magillicuddys kindergarten class and they still wouldn't have been that inefficient.

There is no way.

Those performance apps can be wildly inaccurate. It would have been better to see a video of the dash.

The first run was 9 sec and I'm pretty sure that a bone stock GC 3.0 is 8 sec or less. Also, the 0-10 time shows a 0.5 sec improvement. That same time spread is maintained through the run with an additional 0.4 sec improvement. The original 0.5 sec is probably all error.
