Photos of heads off for studder-skipping TSB.

Hey all, finally getting my heads done at about 85,000 miles. It took some fighting but they're doing it. Waiting on some seal to come in now but I got them to let me look at the old heads and I took some pictures, sorry about the crappy quality, all I had was my phone in a poorly lit area. I thought some of you might want to see how it looked after 85K with no tune. I haven't seen any other photos showing the condition of the old heads and I thought others might like to see them. As soon as I get my jeep back and ensure its properly repaired I'm going to do the GDE Offroad Tune, I've got the CB Engineering offroad pipe waiting in my garage.

Thanks for the pics.

I think the problem that causes the stuttering is actually on the other side. If you flipped those over vertically, we might be able to see the issue.

If I recall correctly, the carbon build-up is causing the valves to stick, which causes the shuddering. The new heads change the geometry around the valves so less carbon builds up there.

Indeed. I wanted to take more but when they saw what I was doing they quickly told me that they are not allowed to have customers in the shop and I got booted pretty quick. Maybe if I get lucky when I pick it up I can snap a couple more pictures.

Well I couldn't get any more photos but I got my jeep back after 21 days and as soon as I started it I heard an abnormal noise, sounded like something rubbing, the sound disappeared and I was sure it was my fan. I cranked the AC so the fan would kick on, opened the hood and it was glaringly obvious that it was rubbing on my coolant hose. None of the clamps were connected, and the reservoir was low. This was also topped off by my vehicle being absolutely filthy. When the tech came out he acted like I had re-routed the hose to make him look stupid. I was fairly enraged as some of you might imagine. He then snatched my engine cover off the ground and threw it in the back seat and demanded my keys. I spoke with the service manager and thoroughly explained the reasons for which I will never return to that dealership. Long story short it seems that inspite of his inadequacies as a mechanic, the job was completed successfully and after a few hundred miles test drive to make sure of this I went ahead with installing my GDE Offroad Tune and CB Engineering pipe and I'm very pleased with the results. I've only driven it a couple hundred miles so far but it's awesome. Excited to see how the efficiency stacks up.
