NDA, confidentiality provisions, gag orders are very common when you win a settlement (essentially what a lemon law is). They do not want to publicly admit an issue of this magnitude (look at what GM did with ignition switches or Ford with the Explorer rollovers or VW with its emissions cheating on its diesels and even its gas cars). Even FCA had this problem as early WK2s with the v6 engines and head warping issues.

Figured out the settlement total and signed the acceptance. Lawyer say 2-3 weeks (but up to 60 days ) i will b turning in the jeep and getting my check.

Who got an grand Cherokee again and any problems. I'm getting kind of sad now that I'm getting rid of the jeep. Not the problems but I like it when it has no problems. But that GLS tho lol.

Same situation (2014 diesel), looked at everything but then settled on a 2015 3.6 gasser. Has been nearly perfect...the service writer at the dealer has almost forgotten my name. IMO, JGC is the right size (gls, tahoe too big for daily driving), with sufficient towering capacity for my needs (eliminates pilot, x5, mdx), not a minivan (a7) and had enough room in back for German shepherd (eliminates cayenne), and is at a much lower price point than almost all the others. Do i miss the diesel...absolutely more fun to drive, sounds better, and I enjoyed the high mileage (although the overall cost of the gasser is lower).

I ended up getting an overland but wish I've stayed with the limited: dark carpet for beige seats and I think regular suspension handles better than the air suspension.

We ended up getting an amazing deal on a CPO Lincoln MkT. Now that I have a Rubicon, we didn't need a second "Trail Rated" vehicle and after what I went through with FCA I'm just not ready to sign up for another Jeep product. This is the wife's daily driver and our road tripper so with the 3.5l EcoBoost and the AWD it's a pretty sweet ride. We tumble fold the second row captains chairs and put the dogs in the 3rd row. Perfect size for us! Some people hate the way it looks, but I like that I can drive around all day and not see another one, just like with my XLR-V!

Yeah after what I went thru with jeep it is kind of annoying thinkn about going back to jeep as well. But I will admit I love the grand Cherokee diesel when it has no issues. I have disliked many vehicles even when they didn't have any problems. Idk yet, I have at least a few weeks before I get my check so I'm still pondering. I do like the idea of the GLS because it is slightly bigger. It's actually small for compared to my cummins lol. We'll see. I do have a deposit already down on a GLS diesel but that is refundable. I like the idea of way lower payments on the jeep especially since I'm putting the whole settlement check towards a new ride. Freakn 1st world problems

Yeah...given all that's going on around the world it's hard to get wrapped too tight around the axle over which luxury SUV to buy. Having said that, your instincts seem pretty well tuned into the Merc! Follow your bliss my friend! Life is just too short not to!

For those turning in a vehicle, don't forget to get your refund on the extended warranty if you bought one. That was another painful process.

All of the items I added to the vehicle (skid plates, DEF protector plate, bug deflector, metal pedal covers, etc.) as well as the MaxCare warranty and my lifetime alignment and rotation contracts with Firestone were all recouped in full by my attorney as part of the total settlement.

My experience was the opposite. I just literally stopped at a random jeep dealer I never ever have gone to( Ontario ca) but very nice one , and went to the finance manager and I was in and out with in 15 mins.

I have 70k miles so I'm getting back $1100 back.

Oh also, if you guys purchased the gap coverage if you financed, you can get that back to if you paid that in full.

Re: Possible buy-back, or other recourse? What can I reasonably expect from Jeep?

I also have a 2014 Jeep GC Ecodiesel that has been plagued with issues. I'm at 16800 miles and a month away from 2 years of ownership in Oregon. In just over a week, I have my 6th appointment in 10 months to address another CEL, a continued ACC/FCW Unavailable message and to address the engine shuddering symptoms described by TSB 09-006-15. CAT was replaced at 12,000 miles about 9 months ago and all seemed fine until CEL returned about a month ago to go off again and then came back permanently. This as an early build (late 2013) Ecodiesel that I bought in 11/2014. I am fed up and contacted Chrysler this morning by chat session and was told that it would be escalated to the proper department and was given a case#. I'm also very concerned about the unresolved recall NHTSA 16V-240 surrounding the potential to get out of the vehicle when it is still in Drive and have it roll away. That alone should be enough to get a manufacturer's buyback, don't you think? Seems that the early builds of the 2014 Ecodiesel are the ones that are most plagued with systemic problems and they should come to the conclusion of a buyback? Any help would be appreciated for those of you who have gotten a buyback. I'm under the 2 years and under the 18k miles, so hopefully that will help?

Thanks, in advance.
