Price of 10K Mile Service ?

2015 ecodiesel is ready for its first oil change. Not feeling like taking it on in my garage, will bring it in to the dealer, need the shifter recall anyway.

Was quoted $180 from one dealer for the 10,000 mile service, which seems high to me, even given the cost of the more expensive oil.

Curious, what have others paid?

Re: Price of 10K Mile Service ?

Rules have changed with the use of Rotella 5W40 because it is so much cheaper. If you use the dealer and their filter there is 62 bucks, My guess is they will charge you for the Rotella at 7 per L and that is 49 bucks plus a touch more (guess).
The only thing a 10K does is have them look the vehicle over under the vehicle while the oil is dripping out.
So give material costs will run 120 bucks with waste material charge the labor charge makes the difference up.
Not sure why you are going to the dealer if you have an indy that can do this, buy a Mahle filter and Rotella 5W40 Syn for a substantial savings.
There is no magic in this oil change it is no different than when doing my BMW because it uses the same type of filter...

Re: Price of 10K Mile Service ?

I've changed the oil on these 3.0 ECD's three times. It is very easy to do yourself. Plus, you can buy the Rotella T-6 5w40 for about $5 qt, or $40 total. Plus there is a rebate on the Rotella right now for $5 on a 4 bottle, bringing your oil cost down to $30 plus tax. You can buy the OEM equivalent aftermarket (ecoguard x10232 filter) on amazon for less than $11.00.

Save yourself a lot of dough ($130.00) and do it yourself. You'll save a lot of time too. It takes me about 30 minutes to do the oil and filter change.

Thanks, normally I would do it myself, especially considering the switch to the cheaper T-6. However I have a 3 week old baby at home, and any time i'm in the house i'm being nagged for something. With my luck i'd be halfway through and be summoned for diaper duty.

I need the recall done, so need to go to the dealer anyway...

Re: Price of 10K Mile Service ?

My dealer charge was 168.00 with Pennz Ultra Euro L and factory filter. I got 4 free oil changes when I bought new so I haven't had to pay yet, but you can bet the 1st one that I have to pay for will be done at home much much cheaper. I do go about 9500 mile appx on each change and have had no problems at all.... Appx 40K miles, mostly trouble free...

Thanks. Spoke with a local dealer yesterday, they offer an oil change "4 pack" for $180 for diesels. Seems almost too good to be true, but we'll see.

Re: Price of 10K Mile Service ?

If that is true, I would jump on that! $45.00 bucks and oil change, with 8 qts of synthetic and filter is a great price.

Re: Price of 10K Mile Service ?

That makes nonsense given a dealer oil filter is 62 bucks. A Cummings maybe I would sure get that in writing stating JGJ Eco Diesel...

Yeah, seems hard to believe, filter p/n 68229402AA listed at $63.45 on Mopar website, although the official Mopar store on amazon lists it at $38.85. I guess I'll find out next Tuesday, will be reading the fine print for sure...

Re: Price of 10K Mile Service ?

Update (w/attachment): Went to dealer, they performed recall service and showed me the pricing for oil changes. Sure enough, there are several FCA-backed packages. There is a time limit, so I ended up going with 3 oil changes in a 2 year period for $140.00, valid at any FCA dealer in the US.

The odd thing is that they are still using Pennzoil Euro L. I asked them about the Rotella T6 and they said they are only using that for the RAM Ecodiesel, which makes no sense to me. This makes the pricing even more surprising, considering the price of the Pennzoil.

Either way seems like a great deal.
