Radiator/Intercooler Damage on New MY15 Diesel

Sooooo, after recieving a Front Recovery hook (Chief Products - love their work) from my father for Xmas I set about installing myself.

Unfortunately, once I had removed the lower front fascia/air dam the first thing that jumped out at me was a minor, yet substantial crease at the bottom of the front most radiator body (the black one not the silver one behind it). The car has only done 2500kms and has never been off the highway, let alone hit anything offroad. The comically crap plastic underbody guard underneath is perfectly intact and there is no other damage to anything immediately adacent, not even the black paint on the damaged radiator body was marked.

Anybody ever seen anything like this on their vehicle? Presumably damaged during manufacture and the poor bastard on $15 a hour wasn't inclined to bring it to anyone elses attention.

I look forward to the inevitable argument with the Dealer/Jeep Australia as to who should pay for repair, especially as the coolant level was low upon delivery and is now below the min warning line.

the main cross member is directly below so no way to damage it whilst driving there, and for anything coming from the front would have to come straight through the airdam.

Looks like it was lowered down onto something during assembly

The problem is proving that you didn't off-road or hit something. Good luck.

Re: Radiator/Intercooler Damage on New MY15 Diesel

So just got a call from the dealer. Despite obviously being damaged during assembly they are refusing to repair because they claim Jeep Australia would never sign off on it as it doesn't meet JA's warranty guidelines.

Interesting that the warranty book specifically states " The Basic Warranty covers the cost of parts and labour needed to repair any defective item on your vehicle - that is, defective material, workmanship, or factory preparation".

Never mind that Australian consumer law clearly states:- "You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure."
