Lol... Amen to that. But seriously, this does make a difference. If the life meter overshoots, I will always use Chrysler's recommended 8K-10K miles service schedule.

I'm going to try to get the TSB performed this week. However, I just changed my oil and I had a WTF moment the very next day when I checked the oil remaining life gauge: 98% remaining, 17 miles since last reset... how does an 850 mile oil change interval sound?

Heh.

Re: Rapidly deteriorating oil life

Just changed my oil. 2nd time. The first was at 8800. 2nd at 15.5k. My Oil Life % didn't reset properly after the first change but miles did. It sat at 7% until I got 7k on the oil, then it began going down. This oil change, it reset fine but has dropped to 98% within 22 miles....that would corelate to a 1100 mile interval...?

I'm getting several flashes done this Friday so we'll see if it fixes that.

Other than the oil life software update, how many other updates are there? My dealer did not know of the former and now I am concerned about the latter.

Re: Rapidly deteriorating oil life

I would have to get my paperwork out of my Jeep but there was another update they did for my late DEC build.

Also the change works. I left at 3300 miles and now back today at 4300 miles and my life stayed at 26% the entire trip. I am guessing that the new algorithm takes into account the current mileage and adjusts from there.

My mileage on a 1000 mile trip to include stop and go traffic over a 100 miles was over 28 mpg at 73-74 mph...
