Rattle/vibration on/underneath axle area heat shield

After getting in my vehicle and starting it after the dealer "fixing" the P20EE issue (replaced the DEF filter), I noticed a syncopated vibrating sound at idle. Brought the diesel tech back to diagnose (engine cover, etc), we spent a couple of minutes trying to find it to no avail. I agreed to drive it home to see if would go away (dumb on my part), it didn't. Get home, think I've identified that either the heat shield over the axle area or whatever the heat shield covering is vibrating, positioned about the where the middle console is in the vehicle.

Going out on a limb, but does anyone know exactly what that heat shield covers? I believe the diesel mechanic had to remove it, along with the skid plates, to get at the DEF filter and I'm HOPING that's the cause of the sound.

Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: I'll add pics shortly.

So on my 14 EcoDiesel the rattles that I have "discovered" so far are:

1-at the rear of the exhaust system above the resonators there is a metal bracket that is friction mounted which rattled down onto the resonator making a terrible noise. After tightening the friction mount bracket and putting it back into place I have had no more issues there.

2-Jeep didn't install all the mounting nuts on the heat shielding between the front diff and the center of the vehicle. The heat shield was rubbing on the front driveshaft and also making a wonderful vibration noise. The service techs dutifully repositioned the heat shield and installed the never installed nuts and no more problems there either.

3-Most of the nuts and bolts under the front end of the Jeep vibrate loose. I had some bolts so loose that I turned them in by hand for 3 turns before I even had to put a wrench on them. Those particular bolts belonged to L shaped brackets between the front suspension and the body. Before they were tightened back up there was an obnoxious vibration/buzzing noise from that area.

Yours may not be related to any of these but at least it's a place to start.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the large cylinder in the pictures is the DPF? That being the case, I wonder if it wasn't installed correctly and is causing the vibration.

Leviathan, I think #2 is what you are referring too in this instance. I can hold the heat shield down with my hand and it prevents the shield from making a significant rattle, but there still seems to be this 1-2 second brrrrmm vibration.

I have noticed an extremely irritating vibration/squeak coming from the rear of the vehicle in the past week. Mostly when going down the highway after some slight city driving. It seems to be more so when it could possibly be going into regen at highway speeds due to the fact it goes away after a few minutes of driving faster than 60mph. I will be looking at the heat shields when it cools down to see if that could be it. Thank you for the heads up on the looseness of these expensive vehicles.

Hello, were you ever able to determine the cause and find a solution?
