Remote start

The remote start has intermittently not worked on my new 16. Sometime it starts, other times the display says it was deactivated. I finally caught what happens. I remote started, it started for just over a second, then shut itself off. Anyone have any issues like this?

Re: Remote start

If there is an error code thrown, the remote start will behave this way. This would happen to mine before I got the cat replaced. After start, the software runs through the diagnostics...sees the code...shuts down the engine within about a second or two. This is probably due to the safety issue of not having a driver in the seat to observe the malfunction indicator lamp and make a decision whether it is safe to continue operating. (This is my conjecture...but I do know a code will stop the engine from running after a remote start.)

Re: Remote start

Happens to mine when the fuel gauge range is less than 30 miles until empty.

Re: Remote start

Does it do this with DEF low?

How about when windshield washer fluid is low?

There are in-dash messages about both of those.

I would not be surprised if it failed to remote start with low DEF.

Not sure if serious, but I highly doubt that the remote start would not work with low washer fluid.

I was being somewhat serious.

One wouldn't think low washer fluid would cause remote start not to work and you wouldn't want that, but it is a computer, programmed by humans. Humans, as we know, sometimes don't take into account every contingency. I would not be surprised to learn that "washer fluid low" has a DTC associated with it and, if they disable remote start with any DTC, I could see that possibly being overlooked by engineering.

Bug or feature? Depends on who you ask.

All fluids are topped off, but the blinker fluid may be low
