Just for kicks the other day, as I walked out of work, I figured I'd test the remote start. I was parked about 150 yards away from the building. NO line of sight - I work at an RV dealer and there were about 45 units between me and the Jeep. It was about 15 above zero, and the Jeep had been sitting in the lot, unsheltered, since 0800.
Granted I "cheated" - I used a trick I learned years ago to increase transmitter range. I stuck the end of the key into the hollow under my chin, and used my noggin as an antenna when I double-clicked the button. The Jeep was too far away for me to hear the horn chirp, but as cold as it was...I just pocketed the remote and kept walking. I walked around the final bend and.....
....the parking lights were ON.
Damn thing started from over 150 yards away!!!
(I figured with all the remote start "problem" threads, I'd start a good one just for the sake of variety...).
