Review of '14 GC Ecodiesel

I picked up my Overland Ecodiesel Mar 31 and have put on 8,000 km as of this morning here is my review.
overall quality is quite good other than a paint flaw ( looked like welding splatter) on the front fender that was repaired under warranty. I don't think something like that should have made it through QC.
over the 3 months the average fuel economy is 9.6l/100 including some towing of my utility trailer with as much as 5000lb. I just finished a 950km road trip from Vancouver to the Okanagan area of BC using the Coquihalla why which is one of the quickest but also the hardest routes on a vehicle. the speed limit on the highway was just raised to 120km/h and I had the cruise control locked on about 130 so not exactly hyper-mileing. and the mileage showed 9.6/100km.
air conditioning kept up with the 37*C and oil temp never went above 104* and trans at about 96*.
one other comment - I am not sure why anyone would see the DEF burn off message - in 8k km I have seen no display or indication that the burn off is happening but have added 10l of DEF fluid so I know it is functioning. My suggestion to anyone seeing the DEF related messages - drive it like you stole it

Karl

Re: Review of '14 GC Ecodiesel

If you do lots of mainly highway driving you'll less often see the message as it will be done in a passive manner (i.e. no warning indication on EVIC).

If you do a lot of short trips where the passive regeneration cannot happen you may see this.

Re: Review of '14 GC Ecodiesel

You're confusing DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) with DPF (diesel particulate filter),two separate but essential components of the emission system.
