Thanks for the tip. How were you able to install the hawse fairlead bolts and bushings into the winch mount? I couldn't hold the nut in place behind winch mount to screw in hawse bolts. Did your winch mount come with welded nuts for fairlead hawse? Mine didn't. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1457373434.649439.jpg

I installed the bolts from the inside. The winch prevents them from falling out. There's enough friction that I don't need to hold the bolt when installing or removing the cap nuts.

Cancel my last question. I didn't know what a standoff was but now it makes sense to me after a quick Google search. I wish rocky road would have mentioned this in the instructions.

I think we were responding at the same time. Do you happen to have any pictures of this standoff setup? I have an idea now with your help but pictures are worth a thousand words.

It's essentially just a bronze bushing that's used to create space between the mounting plate and the fairlead. The plastic bumper fascia sits in the space.

I have a picture that kind of shows it. But I don't think I can upload it from my phone.

Thanks for the picture. Is that the M8000S winch? Do you have pictures of the finished product and which part of the grill you cut out? I'm looking to buy this soon and want to see some of the finished products on how/where the winch was mounted etc. Thanks.

It is the M8000S Warn winch. The opening happened to be centered where the upper and lower fascia meet on my particular model. The lower fascia can still be easily removed using the plastic locks. In this picture I have the lower fascia removed and a pre-runner skid plate installed for off road use. Otherwise I keep the lower fascia on along with a front license plate that bolts to the metal bracket behind the fairlead.

So is there no other way to access the clutch lever or control box without removal of the center grille insert?

I didn't look into it that much. You can mount the control box somewhere else. You can also permanently attach a wireless remote. The clutch lever isn't a necessity. I have access to on board air from there too so it doesn't bother me. Besides the limited trim grill is hardly there anyway.

I actually used Velcro to secure the middle grill. This allows me me slide it out of the way to access the clutch, etc. The Velcro is working for me but it's only been a few days. I need to find a better way other than Velcro though as I'm sure it will mess up with rain and heat.

Good idea. Any pictures of your setup?
