I really like this system and I would be someone to get the winch. I have ACC and I don't want to loose that feature so I guess I will wait until they have the design or installation tweaked before ordering.
I've got ACC. I've pulled the trigger on ordering mine and I'm waiting the 3 week downtime before I actually get it. There is a bracket they sell for the ACC. I'm taking current measurements of its depth/ distance from the lower fascia and its height above the fascia so its as close to the factory calibration as possible. From what I've gathered as long as its perpendicular to the ground, it should be fine. There are screws that alter the angle of the sensor once it's on. It has a field of 5 degrees up and down.
Worst case scenario I'll pay to have the dealer recalibrate its orientation once I've installed it.
I'm hoping I can help them revamp some of their instructions. They are a little oblique at best. Esp for the quadrlift bladder that sits on the front part. And there is no real final pic of the ACC sensor configuration, but I've talked to enough people who have done it to figure out how it's supposed to go.
If anyone else has done so, feel free to chime in!
I don't have ACC on mine. However, the combined weight of the bumper and winch lowered the front end significantly. I installed an OME lift so it wasn't an issue with my install. Otherwise the installation was straight forward.
There is something I forgot to point out. I had to locate stand-offs for the hawse fairlead. I ended up using very thick bronze bushings along with longer bolts. There wasn't a specific reason for bronze except that's what I found that was the correct dimensions and was sturdy enough.
Thanks for the tip. How were you able to install the hawse fairlead bolts and bushings into the winch mount? I couldn't hold the nut in place behind winch mount to screw in hawse bolts. Did your winch mount come with welded nuts for fairlead hawse? Mine didn't.
Cancel my last question. I didn't know what a standoff was but now it makes sense to me after a quick Google search. I wish rocky road would have mentioned this in the instructions.
I think we were responding at the same time. Do you happen to have any pictures of this standoff setup? I have an idea now with your help but pictures are worth a thousand words.
It's essentially just a bronze bushing that's used to create space between the mounting plate and the fairlead. The plastic bumper fascia sits in the space.
I have a picture that kind of shows it. But I don't think I can upload it from my phone.
Thanks for the picture. Is that the M8000S winch? Do you have pictures of the finished product and which part of the grill you cut out? I'm looking to buy this soon and want to see some of the finished products on how/where the winch was mounted etc. Thanks.
If you add this to you're GC - I want to see it and perhaps watch the installation.
I'm thinking that bumper/brush guard is something I want. I've had to take off my license plate three times now and straighten it from people baking into the front of my GC.
I believe I'll be ordering the kits within the next few weeks. Military has me on a trip to TX for 7 weeks but will be looking to do this the first part of April.
I was able to mount up my brothers winch kit on his 15 overland in WA before I moved to Italy for the military. The only thing we didn't get finished is the grill mod. As of now the center grill is still removed and I have yet to find something that looks to keep the original look. rdcastan could I bug you for some pics of your Velcro setup? from the video and such it looks factory. I'd like to do that as well. Thanks.
It looks like you cut the tabs off of the center grill piece and then just put Velcro where the tabs went and use that to attach. I'll send that info to my brother and see if that's what he wants to do. It looks great. Nice job.
