Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

FYI T6 gallon @ Menards...21.34 - 11% rebate - 5.00$ gal Rotella rebate = 3.50 a quart... About as good a deal as I have recently seen....

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

Hey all,
I went to Love Field Jeep for an oil change today. I was prepped to demand Rotella T-6. Before I could ask the guy he said just so you'll know we are going to perform the doom-shifter recall and a couple of flashes and use Rotella T-6.

My only issue is I can't decipher the flash terminology:
18DOZFLASH3
Flash for AMP
Flash Software 4

EDS: What year is your Jeep. The flash only seems to apply to 2016's.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

I would think that a reflash would be necessary for the 14-15 years also.

Since the oil properties are changed, a reflash for oil life monitoring, etc surely would be needed.

The TSB for the 2016 shows a reflash for the ECM and TCM and a sticker showing the new oil weight.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

Doom shifter recall requires a bunch of flashes. Maybe that's what those are.

This is really frustrating. The SA does not know what flashes were completed nor what some of the codes mean. To his credit and that of his boss they are on the horn with Jeep today to decipher exactly what was done and why and if the car was flashed for T-6 or not.

I'll report back when I know more. I'm taking the car back in tomorrow AM so they can look it over and make any adjustments.......they overfilled by about 0.5qt. and according to the paperwork only added 8qts. of fresh oil/T-6. That strongly implies the old oil wasn't completely drained.

Also the car seems to run differently/better in particular the pedal feel/response seems much different.

They evac'd and refilled the A/C system and it works MUCH better than before. The air went from milquetoast to ferocious - must have been contaminated as the pressures were right on before.

SA would not confirm if they drained and refilled the '16s on the lot - but he did say they all deliver with T-6.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

EDS, that is interesting that the TSB only applies to 2016, yet they went ahead and performed the TSB on your 2015. It would be nice to see a TSB for the 2014-2015's. Please keep us posted. Thanks

You are exactly right about the dealership not draining all the oil out. I told my dealer to let the oil drain as long as they can. They refilled with (8) qts and I was overful by 1/4 qt. When I drain at home overnight and refill in the morning with (8) qts, it's right on the full mark every time.
