As stated, both are extreme temperature.

Agreed!

I will tell you I used this in my Cummins 6.7 and it's really good oil..I saw better mileage over the standard conventional 15W-40. I think partially was because the lighter weight 5W-40 and the Cummins was about broke-in...not to mention the Cummins takes 12 Quarts...that's 3 gallons!...of lighter weight oil.... Great Oil I'm glad they switched...although I'm a fan of Pennzoil.

Still waiting for Nordic1 to outline the differences between the two.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

Ok I need some guidance. I don't think I have ever read through 18 pages of a thread before...

Just got the oil changed today in my 2014 JGC Diesel. Paperwork says they added 8 quarts of 68001334PC OIL-5W30. I typed that part number in and only found one supplement that stated it is the correct oil, and I don't know the date of that information.

Should they have put the 5W-40 in and where do I get something showing them that the 2014 should have the 5W-40? I can't even find a place to reference this part number (68001334PC) to ensure it is a synthetic low ash formula.

Thanks in advance for any additional insight you have.

2015 DIESEL SUPPLEMENT LATEST EDITION.pdf

I have the 2015 updated diesel supplement showing the change. You'll have to find a copy online or have the dealer look it up.

The revised oil spec is on page 98.

If they used the "old" PZ Ultra Euro L ( What USED to be the right stuff..)
I wouldn't even worry about it. It has consistently worked fine, tested fine, and while not current, poses no problem. I plan on using my supply up on my next change at 50K and move on to Rotella after that. I already use Rotella in my Cummins so down the road I can buy in better volume for better deals, But there is certainly nothing "damaging" about using the old PZ oil if they did....

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

I can't get my dealer to admit there was a spec change despite showing them the manual and everything. I figure I'll run with the old spec until the next time and try again. I don't have the time and patience to argue with them any more about what oil to use. And with a lifetime warranty, it's their problem if anything happens anyway.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

At my last oil change they put T-6 in my diesel. Oil and filter cost more than the old stuff. $9.25 per qt. for oil and $63 for the filter. On top of that they show the next change at 7500 miles. So more expensive and more often?? Even though I have been changing it at 8000 miles anyway. No more stealership for me.

That's the problem. I can't even find the part number online to verify they used the old stuff. So frustrating!

Thanks so much. The part number is the same but with a "c" at the end whereas the site says "b". I feel more comfortable that it is the "older formula".

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

I think it is ridiculous that FCA did not communicate the new oil requirement for us (2014-2015). They should of sent us a notice and a link to the new Diesel supplement. If it wasn't for this forum I would have no idea. So thanks to all.
