Was the hot tune gone after the flash from the dealer?

Yes the tune was over written. Had to reorder the tune, it came to 63.45 shipped.

I can't see me doing this. Have the Hot Tune, everything is working perfectly. I will wait until I'm having issues before they get to flash my vehicle. I have a "do not Flash" cover over my OBDII connector. My dealer has stayed away from it so far.

I thought it was $100 to get it re-flashed. Also, not been able to drive the Jeep for a few days is a bummer. I think I will buy the oil and switch to T-6 myself. I do not want my tune erased.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

What 2016 TSB are we talking about? Can someone direct me to it?

I am at a dealer in VA for my first oil change and the service advisor has no information for 5w40 spec change.

What year do you have? If it's a 2016 it is Service Bulletin 18-078-16. If you have a 2015, tell him to go to the Jeep website and get access to the 2015 Diesel Supplement PDF, 7th edition, page 99 and it shows the change to Shell Rotella 5W-40.

Let's see what comes out. The service advisor didn't paid any attention to the TSB and said the technicians will take care of it if there is any recommendation from FCA. I am here for S28 and oil change was an after thought.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

Good news! Ok, so they did put the Rotella T6 in my 2016 Diesel. The technician came out and informed me. I guess the Service Advisor did passed on the message.

While, all this was happening, I went to the parts window and asked what Engine oil they have for my Jeep, and the guy checked his system and told me Rotella T6 5W40.

In my final work order, I have note:

Completed Diesel Engine Oil and Filter Change
##NOTE THAT THE OIL USED PERTAIN TO TSB##

Part no.QTY 68229402-AA - Filter EN

Part no.QTY 68001332-PA - OIL 5W40

The service advisor did brought the empty quart bottle back of Rotella T6 to show me, which btw, matches the part no. of the TSB. They have another part# for same oil that comes in a drum. FWIW..They did not put the sticker on the oil cap.

I have noticed the engine runs quieter now and it might be in my head but the engine seems to run much smoother too. Maybe other people who have gotten Rotella T6 can correct me if I am wrong.

Btw, S28 is also completed. 5 more free oil changes to go.

I believe it's $50, and you do the core charge again so there's no down-time. Order the reflash, pay the core charge +$50, and they send you a tuned PCM. Then return yours for the core refund. Zero downtime, just a lighter wallet for a week.

What about the 2014 and 2015 Ecodiesels? They are the same engines. Our owners manuals are updated with the Rotella T6 requirement. Any insight for anyone?

The soft copy of the 2015 7th edition has already been published, so it would only be logical in my opinion to go with the Rotella T6 5w40 in my 2015 WK2 EcoDiesel. Not sure what to think with of the various other things the TSB for the 2016's cover.

The p/n for the 7th edition of the 2015 WK2 Diesel supplement is 15WK741-226-AG. The Mopar Tech Authority still has the original manual on their website for $16, p/n 15WK741-226-AA

I called and spoke with Jeep customer care yesterday and asked them to send me out a new copy of the 2015 diesel supplement, so we'll see what version I end up getting.

Re: Rotella T-6 in our diesel?

Air Bull: Yes I'm wondering about the other items in the TSB also, as well as why they didn't include our 2014 and 2015's. And the big question, why the change! My dealer is taking 2016 RAM and Jeep grand Cherokee's on their lot and dumping the Euro oil and putting in the Rotella. Common sense tells me there is an issue with the Penzoil Euro oil maybe not protecting our engines as it should? Sure wish someone from FCA would step up and tell us why.
