The dealership is doing all they can to take care of me. Yes, I'm disappointed in the diagnostic approach and lack of factory documentation on this P20EE DEF issue. Chrysler should have a team of engineers on this with a troubleshooting guide available. The owner of the dealership told me they would support my decision to demand a buyback or replacement. I have the vehicle I want so I am going to try and work through this. If it goes on too long, I'll reconsider.

Good luck, my friend. Seriously. I just hope to never get to your position, but you've got the patience of a saint!

How long is too long, though, given what you've already been through?

After Oct 1, I have to travel more....if its not fixed 100% by then, it will be lemon law'd or bought back. I have 4 vehicles so I have something to drive no matter what.

I have the same P20EE-00 code on for the 4th time. They are ordering a new catalyst, although it is on backorder of course. Does that sound like the correct approach? I have very little faith in the Jeep service department and feel they are just reaching to attempt a fix.

see other thread for incorrect DEF - it maybe build up of DEF crystals in the pump and injector and looks like Chrysler Tech is figuring out a way to resolve this issue and communicate to engineers.

Re: Service Def - See Dealer

Got the dreaded message on Tuesday, and the 200 mile countdown started Wednesday. Dealer squeezed me in Thursday (Yesterday) and confirmed the worst. 11 injectors already backordered from nearest warehouse (Orlando).

I immediately got on the horn with corporate, and started a case ID with a request for rental coverage until repaired. Next step...get in line for a jeepgarage protection plate from dom...

All for want of a jeep that can go thru a puddle unscathed.

Re: Service Def - See Dealer

Just wanted to let everyone know 18-018-14 REV D is now available. I got P20EE-00 for second time now (first at 8,500 miles, now at 10,000 miles). It was time for me to bring it in for an oil change. When I got to the dealer today I told them about the check engine light and they informed me this new TSB is available. They are applying the flash now, will keep my fingers crossed.

I understand the frustration. It happens when you're already stressed out and have no ability to deal with it.

Mine threw this message over a month ago (caused by P20E9 & P204F). I had no time to deal with that bullshit, so I recorded the codes and cleared them. The idea was that this is an emissions system issue rather than something important, and if it weren't transient the code would be immediately pending and inevitably reappear promptly. Because it was an emissions code, after clearing the codes I had to drive it and cycle the engine before the MIL finally turned off.

Hasn't been back so far. I will note that many others in this thread are reporting different codes with this message than what I had.

Good luck and try to enjoy your vacation. It's not like your truck is on fire in the parking lot... this issue will keep for another day.

Re: Service Def - See Dealer

Got the message Incorrect DEF & P20EE for the 14th time now.
I'm pretty sure Won't restart message will be next...

This happened after I filled DEF (With Chrysler DEF) from 1/8 to 3/4 full.

Hands down the most problematic car by far, Chrysler customer service at a loss. no clue.

Like the looks & drive though, some sample pics attached for those who've not seen it.

Re: Service Def - See Dealer

The P20EE fix for most has been a DEF injector ( "doser" ) flow test and replacement if needed, and a Catalytic Converter replacement. A new flash update is avaliable and a redesigned Cat is in the works to address this. Some have reported that their dealers are telling them to wait for the new Cat.

A clogged DEF injector causes the DEF message and the P20EE. If P20EE occurs after the injector is replaced (or cleaned) and proper flow is confirmed, the Cat needs replacement. You can drive with a bad Cat. The P20EE alone won't cause a countdown to no start. I drove mine several hundred miles with a P20EE and never had a shutdown warning after the DEF system was unclogged.

Re: Service Def - See Dealer

DEF Injector itself can only get clogged I think if the pump is not pumping DEF or kinked line. Crystalized DEF will dissolve 100% instantly if exposed to water or DEF. (Tried it) I had my DEF injector replaced after it broke off in May, and now dealer waiting for new CAT as well. so in line with what we see on the board.

The new TSB (REV D) at the bottom says pretty much - if you have had P20EE - more parts required in addition to Flash (Cat).

Funny part is I filled DEF yesterday and seeing "Incorrect DEF" today. I'm inclined to say it's software,
not bad DEF right now, Date code on DEF "PACKED 8/22/2014"
