This is only with no seat belt- with seat belt fastened you can drive with the door open- See vid attached. Not sure I like it- safety is important but it feels like a "big brother" thing....
How did you get it done? Every news article and Chrysler piece of info I've read said the SRT and Diesel won't have it available until August?

Re: Shifter Recall

Funny

I bought the 15 specifically because of its shifter (see previous threads)

I like it. It is quirky and it has surprised me a time or two...but only when I dont bother to read the ILLUMINATED SHIFTER and/or the ILLUMINATED INSTRUMENT PANEL.

I can rant and rave about folks needing the guberment to think for them and make the world safe for us...but that would be pointless.

I will say....since it is an electronic shifter...why cant they simply program the pressure sensor in the drivers seat to engage the brake or place the vehicle in park if there is less than 50 pounds of weight in the drivers seat.

No driver....no movement. Perfect, now I can go back to my long list of distractions and know that the fat in my ass will keep me safe from having to develop any common sense. And with that...I am most assuredly safe.

Re: Shifter Recall

I like the new shifter. 'course I like the shifter in my '14 as well. I hang around car and truck guys and I was getting jacked with about this shifter recall. The word is JGC owners are idiots and this is yet another example of the dumbing down of society.
These other guys are also working in industrial environments so when I compare fixing the shifter to industrial safety practices, Poka Yoke, etc., they shut the f-up.
In a manufacturing environment when you cannot execute a process reliably using skilled labor or the technology available, the process must be changed or more highly skilled personnel must be used. In the case of this shifter issue, using more highly skilled personnel is not an option.
The path FCA chose was an easy one and frankly not much of a decision at all. I suspect there will be replacement OEM or aftermarket shifters available for those who want a hardware solution.
