Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

Was at my car wash today, owner said he had a GC come in this morning that had the new software, they could not figure out how to leave the Jeep in neutral and run it through the car wash. Every time they opened the door, it automatically went to Park, so someone had to sit in the car as it went through the car wash to take it back out of park after the driver's door was closed.

So yea, I bet there will be a fix to the fix. Not taking mine in for a while.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

Got my notice yesterday 7/5. Not sure where or when I'll get this done either. I tow a travel trailer and sometimes open the door to check in back or the side.

Not sure I want to deal with the auto park fix.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

I've had a few notices come in the mail and got another one last week. Taking it in for an oil change next week so I'll have them double-check that they have software update for the ecodiesel.

Word is the dealers are being pushed hard to get the idiotproofing change installed.

That may be coincidental. I know there is another WK2 thread regarding the shifter, but thought this was specific to us as they (FCA) may not have our needs ironed out yet.

Back to dealer come Tuesday.
Hi Sebec,

Did you take your vehicle in this past Tuesday? Can you PM your VIN so I can follow up on this?

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

Dealer did the safety recall S27 along with some other software flashes for the radio and transmission control module and I had no warnings about the DEF driving it home so it must be the diesel version. I guess I have to try opening the door without my foot on the brake and/or without the seatbelt on to see what happens.

It's an "and" conditional logic. All conditions must be met for autopark to trigger. Your dealer should have left you with a yellow cardboard card that describes the S27 logic. I've got mine flashed last week and it sure is hopping into park when your foot is off the brake, seatbelt is unbuckled and driver door opened.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

Sadly my Summit got towed to the dealer yesterday because it wouldn't start in my parking lot an my company yesterday. When I called the service manager to let him know to expect it, I did tell him I absolutely did NOT want the shifter recall done, and he told me I have no choice.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

I have a oil change scheduled for tomorrow @ 1300. I have a feeling there will be unpleasant words exchanged when I refuse the software update. Until I am absolutely certain no other systems will be altered no one will be entering my computer. I do not want my vehicle neutered in the same way the N23 caused a loss of 4LOW in my previous WK CRD - the fix of which was a unflashed FDCM from a wrecked S-Limited from Canada.

Can't you just disable the door open sensor for those stuck with a flash and don't want it?

There would be side effects. The door sensor also serves as input to other functions such as turning off the accessories when the engine has been turned off and then the door is opened. I haven't tested what would happen if the driver side external door lock button or the keyfob lock button were pressed from outside the vehicle and the vehicle thinks the driver door hadn't yet been opened.

You'll never get that certainty. Four separate systems (most notably the PCM and TCM) are being flashed, *and* this recall version implicitly includes all previously-released TSB/RRT firmware updates for those systems. That is to say, they aren't patching in a single new modular feature to your existing firmware, but rather they released a new version of each those firmwares that has this new auto-park functionality added into the main build. They perform a wipe/clean install to apply it to your systems. BTW, this also means that if you want any future PCM or TCM update, you're going to get the auto-park recall applied implicitly.

This is all or nothing, not pick and choose.
