Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

My Dealer was adamant about adding the new software, so, after having had the fuel filters change last Friday, they did the update. My main concern was having a driver unfamiliar with the nuances of the shifter use the GC. On Saturday I went to check the DEF but it was no longer visible on the EVIC. Threw a CEL on Sunday. That may be coincidental. I know there is another WK2 thread regarding the shifter, but thought this was specific to us as they (FCA) may not have our needs ironed out yet.

Back to dealer come Tuesday.

Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

Last we heard, the update for the Ecodiesel and the SRT had not been released yet?? Perhaps your dealer installed the wrong software?

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

I trusted the dealer to know. Maybe a big misake. However, the software for the shifter/switch is manageable. My fear is the Jeep Garage Community is correct and my Dealer was wrong.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

The software for the EcoDiesel and SRT transmissions was/is due the end of the month(July). Unless someone knows otherwise, that should still be the case, in which case your dealer may of unknowingly installed the incorrect/incompatible software.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

I would imagine the computer system would not allow incorrect software to be installed....

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

I would have thought so also. It is just the missing DEF monitor on my EVIC which makes me think.....

A PDF about how to perform the update specifically calls out a recalibration of the DEF system.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

Thanks Jake!

My Dealer sees so few of these it is basically a science experiment when I show up. Fun to see the techs cringe.

Thanks again. Maybe that is why I shot a CEL.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

I received the original recall notice last week saying it would be in the 4th Q before the recall was ready, and then yesterday received the notice that it was and to book an appointment. This was from FCA Canada, not the dealer. So the diesel fix is ready.

Re: Shifter Recall Software/DEF monitor

Just received my "Fix" notification in the mail today. As I do not have an issue with the shifter, I will wait for a few weeks until the furor dies down. And just in case we discover there is a subsequent fix for the fix.....
