Short video of my Brembo diesel with terra grapplers

I was switching my wheels/tires recently so picked up the phone for quick video. If you can suffer through my repetitive and mindless use of "but uh" phrase here's a quick video of my Brembos I've had on since March 2014

Those are the jeep srt brembos and rotors. Thats all you need once you get wheels that will go over them. Most use srt replicas or srt wheels.

Thanks, I have an overland with the 20" wheels so I think they will clear the Brembos

Re: Short video of my Brembo diesel with terra grapplers

I got the calipers, pins, anti rattle clips and the non drilled Brembo rotors from allmoparparts.com which is a dealer web parts store- it is less expensive there as opposed to their over the counter in person parts dept. I used Hawk hps pads I think ordered from Amazon

The overland 20x8 won't clear the front calipers you need 20x9 srt/replicas with 35 offset. SRT jeeps come with 20x10 (I forget offset) but 20x9 with proper offset work fine as I didn't want 20x10's

You can also find everything at justforjeeps.com (slightly higher prices)

There are many threads in the brakes/suspension forum

Thanks to Scottina06 who "pioneered" the swap with several info threads

Re: Short video of my Brembo diesel with terra grapplers

shoestring, you mention the drilled rotors are for looks, but they will help dissipate heat and brake dust during use. So they are drilled for function, not for the looks.

Re: Short video of my Brembo diesel with terra grapplers

Nice video and upgrade. It's definitely something I'm considering. If you don't mind me asking do you remember what they cost?

I noticed your mudflaps also. They look much better than the jeep ones I have. Can you tell me where you got them?
Thanks!

Hi- I just had to respond to this comment. The fact is that drilled rotors actually decrease the mass of the rotor and decrease their ability to dissipate heat which is generated when braking under rigorous conditions. When drilled rotors are used under harsh conditions cracks will form from the holes and when the holes connect the rotors are shot...

If you look at any race car they have slotted rotors which can dissipate the heat better and still maintain most of the mass of a solid rotor.

You are totally right when I comes to race cars. Slots are actually used to catch and move the gases created when the brake pad and rotor meet while braking which allows for more contact of pad to rotor increasing stopping power (gases push the pad off of the rotor). Drilled allows for gases to pass through the rotor having a much similar effect as well as reduce brake dust and dissipate heat (gases). Together they work really well on street driven vehicles.

To your notion of cracks, unless you are constantly on your brakes and turning them cherry red, like "real" race cars, not light to light cars, drilled will not hinder you in any sort of way. The stress cracks come from the rotors getting so hot that the properties of the metal begin to change making them more brittle. Unless you are racing your jeep, which most wont be, drill away!
