MY stats to counter yours:

Time in shop: 2 hours for 3 flash updates (only 1 diesel related)
Times in limp mode: ZERO
Times limp mode threatened: ZERO
Broken injectors: ZERO
Miles driven: 15,500 in winter, in summer, in rain, through puddles, on road and off road.

I guess since mine has never had a problem, they must ALL be near perfect, wonderful, never fail vehicles.

The truth is somewhere in between. There are some issues, of those issues the majority are MUCH less severe than yours was. Very few US spec vehicles are having particle filter issues like yours had resulting in limp mode. Read around a little. And After the first two or three initial P20EE incidents FCA figured that problem out and took care of that issue relatively quickly.

What other diesel issues have there been? That's it isn't it? What's the big deal?

You have your V8 gasser now, so go enjoy it! I'm sure it will be perfect.
Could not agree more. Feb 2014 build here. A few minor problems and a resolved P20EE. All fixed in a day or overnight. Service provided a rental, so what's the big deal? Has spent two NE winters outside, starts first time every time, climbs up our steep snow laden driveway like its on a four lane highway - put it in snow mode raise the suspension - sweet!
Absolutely love this thing - would replace it with the exact same model in a heartbeat. Got the extended warranty as well - would have that with a hemi or a diesel. Just too much technology in these things these days not to have that peace of mind.

I don't care what the others are experiencing, they have no bearing on me. My 6th jeep. All others were PERFECT, my expectations were no less. However, it was the biggest pain in the ass ever.

People are always more likely to complain then praise.

Just did some back country touring in my Jan 2015 diesel GC. Confortable, powerful, economical. 9300km so far and no issues to speak of. Having been through five reliable diesel toyotas I was a little worried but, touch wood, so far so good.
