Re: Skid Plates on Diesel Summit

I had all three kits (5 plates) installed yesterday. There was no distinction made between diesel or gas drive trains for any of the part numbers. They all bolted into place using the hardware attaching the particleboard "splash guards" that came from the factory. The only factory "plate" that stayed in was the soft piece over the transmission which didn't have an OEM steel counterpart.

One note to confirm is that the harmonic balancer disk (doughnut) bolted to the plate covering the transaxle needs to be removed on diesel applications as it rests on the Y-pipe hanger and will cause vibration if left affixed. This was mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

Finally, if your having them installed by professionals, don't worry about running down your fuel to empty. I was at about 3/4 full and they had no problem. This will likely not be the case if your doing it in your back yard on jack stands.

So I installed the skid plates, wasn't sure if I was imagining something or not regarding the idle being slightly rougher some of the time, had no idea that metal donut was hitting on something, DOH!!!!

Oh well, time to get the nugget up on ramps again!

For anyone reading this thread, the front axle diesel skid plate part# 82213094 metal weight does not rub or contact on my MY15 CRD Jeep GC.

It also does not however make any noticeable difference to idle or engine running smoothness, so it's staying off for now.

Re: Skid Plates on Diesel Summit

2015 summit skid plate option is listed for about $300.00 for all of them if ordered new, much more if ordered after delivery.

The installation instructions are slightly different, so perhaps that's the main difference. Did anyone nail this down precisely, or are most people just hoping for the best when ordering the "Not for diesel" front skid plate?
I purchased the diesel version of the front suspension skid plate. It has an encapsulation liner that replaces the encapsulation plate that needs to be removed during installation. The encapsulation plate only used with diesel engine.

Shipping was $120.38

I ordered these about a week before receiving my CRD and the mopar website claimed they fit all models. After taking off the steel wheel everything fit fine.
Did you install the front axle (82211995) over the encapsulation plastic cover that all the Diesel engine model comes with?

As I recall it didn't fit with the plastic cover on so it was removed. I did not do the installation myself.

I did on my Summit. It didn't see where it didn't fit close to the mounting points as to cause it to not work properly.

Re: Skid Plates on Diesel Summit

I am new to jeeps and this site, and just bought a new 2015 overland with the ecodiesel high altitude package and don't have any skid plates, just the factory plastic/cloth coverings. I am trying to get all of the plates that will fit, but it is confusing with an ecodiesel 4x4. I am thinking front skid 82213094 for Diesel and Fuel tanks 82211999, but what about the transfercase it seems they don't fit or I am reading outdated info... Any help would be appreciated to keep this simple so I can place an order asap. I know there are some aftermarket for the def, but at a loss for the transfer case.

So which parts do I need or do these all work on the diesel 4x4?

1 x Jeep Grand Cherokee Skid Plates - Fuel Tank (82211999)
1 x Jeep Grand Cherokee Skid Plates - Transfer Case (82211994AB)
1 x Jeep Grand Cherokee Skid Plates - Front Axle (82213094)
