Question So What Was the Holdup?

Awesome that ecodiesel has its own sub-forum now, but that's not the holdup I'm asking about

I've been a member for something like a year now, and only check in periodically. I've skimmed the [currently] 578-page "2014 Diesel Production" thread when I check in, and found a lot of speculation on the delays. Did we ever arrive at a real answer?

Not looking to create another thread hundreds of pages long. If there's nothing definitive, just post that, and I'll ask the moderators to lock or delete this...

The final holdup was no urea tanks installed. They literally installed most of them in the storage parking lots.

If I remember correctly, Chevy explained that the factory is running full steam and there was no vacation/break for a retool this year.

I think this is a consequence of modern "just in time" inventory systems.

There were a bunch of holdups all along. Developing a DEF system, shortage of engines, shortage of seat parts, CARB to EPA approval, the government shutdown, Lack of DEF tanks, no place on the assembly line assigned to install DEF tanks, the actual installation of DEF tanks, several holds for flash updates to various computers in the Jeeps, problems with the brake computer module, QA on Quadra Lift.......this list goes on. All irrelevant now, as our Jeeps are on their way.

Cool man, thanks. Looking at picking up a 2015 (probably) after I move back to the states this summer. Doubtful I'll find a 2014 with everything I want held over anywhere. Remains to be seen...
