Squeak During Engine Startup

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has any idea what this is. I've got a real brief squeak during engine startup. Goes away once the engine is running. And it's pretty much every start up, cold or warm. Anyone experience this?

That TSB doesn't apply to the diesel engine. Are you suggesting that you suspect you have a similar issue unrelated to this TSB?

Yea. I think it's some kind of belt or pulley. It stops once the engine is started. It's only during start up

Re: Squeak During Engine Startup

I've heard starters before make a squealing baby elephant noise on initial startup, odd noise for a starter surely. Can you post a video maybe?

It's back at the dealer now. I told them that I'm not picking it up until they figure it out. The only thing I can think it sounds like is when you're running or walking on a basketball court and scuff your shoe... That kind of squeak.

It's only for a second or two max. Then it goes away when the engine is running. So it's definitely a belt or pulley

Update: turns out it's not the idler pulley. Serpentine belt was just replaced for getting glazed from a foam harmonic cover two weeks ago. I'm sure this noise is related ....

Any ideas from the group?
