stumped

last weekend I had the dealer reflash my jeep for the auto climate control seemed off in temp and the oil service % was dropping faster than I felt it should be. Took the dealer maybe 30 minutes to do the updates but I have noticed that now my distance to empty does not change while driving. Ex... the last time I drove the jeep it had 495 miles to empty put 130 miles on it and it never moved. shut the jeep off for a few hours and got back in it and the number dropped down close to what I drove. took it back to the dealer the reflashed it again and it did not change anything... Any ideas cause the dealer does not know what to do either Thanks Rob

Re: stumped

Tell them to do a reset by disconnecting the battery.

Re: stumped

My 2014 GC had the same error after an update by the dealer.

Re: stumped

called the dealer today and scheduled a appointment for next Saturday to bring it in. the manager said they could look at it but he was not sure what could be wrong. He looked up the notes from last update and it says that after the two updates the vehicle had a hard reset done to it to confirm the new updates was working properly...

Re: stumped

well that was a waste of time. took it there the tech said he looked thru the software and said he did not notice any issues. took the jeep for a 15 mile test ride noted the range number dropped 3 miles and stated that was acceptable and sent the jeep out the door. Said nothing wrong with it. IT worked fine before the reflash and now it does not. What do I do now??

Re: stumped

The miles to empty can actually go up while driving. I do mostly very local driving getting 12 - 14 mpg. If I get on the highway where I get better than 22, the number will stay the same for a while, then go up, then start going back down after a bit of driving.

My last 4 vehicles did the same thing.

Re: stumped

I've noticed the same thing as Bill. I don't pay all that much attention to it as those readings are far from accurate... just like every other vehicle that offers that function.

I understand they change while driving but like I said I drive 30+ miles to work and it only changes a few miles while driving but when I shut it off and come back to it and the end of my shift it has changed again to around the correct mileage that I drove that am. something it never did before And to add to my previous post the 15 miles the tech drove was in stop and go town traffic no highway

Re: stumped

My opinion is that they changed the algorithm for predicting remaining miles. Its different than before...it is what it is. The algorithm can't possibly know how you will drive on the remaining fuel so it uses averages that may now reset on a restart. I don't watch that number until the low fuel light comes on....that's when it matters most.
