Instead of using the nutsert for the back, I used a plastic pop rivet. See pics.

Also, I looked at all possible metal-to-metal contacts points and put some 3m electrical tape there.

I actually gave up on the speed nut. Too tight to get in there. I just zip-tied it.😜

For those, like me, who are skittish about drilling into the frame, double-sided tape works great as well in place of the nutsert and bolt. Dom recommended to me 3M/Scotch Extreme (20 lb) Outdoor Mounting tape, applied in double thickness to the area where the plate contacts the frame. After applying the tape and bolting up the plate, use a 2x4 and a floor jack on the area where you applied the tape to get good adhesion and give it a few minutes to cure. Thanks, Dom!

I'd be careful of the tape melting and/or catching fire sitting super close to all the hot exhaust stuff, especially the "vent" section of the plate...

I will say that it is probably a good idea to use threadlocker on a nutsert-based install.

My DEF plate screw came loose over a period of months, and this manifested as a horrible, rev-dependent sound one day. I pulled over ASAP and hoped it was just the plate rather than engine failure. Sure enough, the screw had worked loose allowing the plate to vibrate.

Blue Locktite applied, and so far no further problems.

Testimonial for DOMs DEF injector/ harness protection plate

Yes I should probably update the instructions with that. I like blue loc tite as well. The newer plate will mount better at that location braise it is extended a little more as well as a slight bend at the end to sit better on frame vs first version where it was slightly too short. That didn't allow the nutsert to sit properly

Also....

Please please please if you guys can get on the jeep Exo diesel fix site I have and write your thoughts on the whole deal even if it is negative about my plate or jeep. Thanks

Hi Dom! I just put my testimonial up on your site. Brought my CRD home today and immediately installed the plate. It was a straightforward process and I feel much better knowing that my Jeep is now protected.
