Re: time from order to delivery?

Thanks Ferntree.
I've got the patience in this case. But I think my dealer is up to something. They are telling me "10-12"weeks" when most seem to be getting them in 6-8 weeks. They also are telling me that it takes "many weeks" to get a VIN #, but you are saying you had yours the day after you ordered it. I've asked them to sign me up for the Chrysler update system via my email and they just respond by saying "when we get the VIN we'll give you an update". They are being very coy about it.

I'm suspicious that my dealer is deliberately holding up on ordering it now that they have my deposit. Perhaps if they place a larger order consisting of several custom ordered vehicles at once they get a better deal? Something's fishy.

Did you put money down. It really sounds like your dealer is full of it. Got my VIN the next day and I was on VOT's from JEEP. Got the vehicle in Utah from time of order to pickup about four weeks and a few days.

Re: time from order to delivery?

It took 24 days for me to get a VON from my dealer, now some of that was over Christmas/New Years but I had to call several times before I managed to get on the phone with someone who was willing to help (and that guy was very helpful, so it was great at that point). I have never received an automatic email from VOTS, I just manually check it.

Right now it's just frustrating to watch MOTS and see people who ordered after me and whose cars hit the Final Inspection after mine did moving past me as mine just is stalled out there. I know that isn't anyones fault, it's just killing me to be so close, yet so far away.

Waiting
Welcome to my world.
Got my VON the same day I ordered so your dealer is playing games with you or they didn't order it yet. I would be in their face by now asking what is going on.

1Zack1 at least we didn't have the misfortune one of our members had with his SFU falling off the truck and had to reorder...

Re: time from order to delivery?

I just figure there was a small robot revolt at JNAP and my Jeep was collateral damage in the fight.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. They are a HUGE dealer and I suspect they have some kind of special incentive (rebates, etc) to "lump" a bunch of their custom orders together.

I've emailed my salesman and asked him to provide documentation showing that the vehicle has indeed been ordered. I put $1000 on it on January 20. Once I have proof that it's ordered I'll gladly shut up and wait

When your dealer enters the order in the computer, he is given the VON immediately. If you do not have it, it means the dealer is holding your order, and not placing it in the system. I would call him tomorrow, and demand the VON. If he says he does not have it, remind him it is on the order invoice. If says he still says he does not have it, ask him to place the order. If he says he placed the order, remind him the VON is on the order invoice, and have him show you the order invoice. He is either lying, or does not have a clue. Either way, demand your VON now. My guess is he filled his order quota for the month, and is waiting for next month to place your order. Right now, the Jeeps should be delivered within 6-8 weeks. If he can't give you the VON get your deposit back (which he has to do since he has not placed the order) and go to another dealer. There are a few group buys, and they are giving great discounts. I can get you in on the Texas group buy for 5.5% below invoice. DC and Colorado also have group buys.

Thumbs up Re: time from order to delivery?

Thanks to Shannon, we participated in the Texas Group buy last week.
We received our Priced Order Confirmation (POC), by Email, minutes after ordering the vehicle from the Texas dealer. As Shannon stated, our VON was on the top of the order sheet, together with our name and address.

As this group has been instrumental in us buying our JGC, we joined as a level IV member and now, thanks to Milous, can see that our JGC is in Pre-Release status as of 1/25.

We were told 6 to 8 weeks by the dealer but it does appear that a JGC Overland build can be as quick as 4-6 weeks. All in the luck of the draw I suppose !

Can't wait to get it.......

Re: time from order to delivery?

I did not get a notice for a little while, maybe a week and it came to me with the status that it was scheduled to be built. Got mine out of the DC area on a group buy. They really played up how long it would take to be built and delivered as they tried to push me to buy one on their lot. But the builds they had all either had something included that I absolutely did not want or did not have something that I absolutely wanted. I can see where transportation might add some time but not weeks.

My guess is that they got tired of all the calls during the original builds which took an incredibly long period of time only to be stopped when a lot were built. Better to tell you 12 weeks and you get it in 6 or 7 than the other way around.

If they are jerking you around go to one of the group buys. I know in DC, the pricing is on this forum so that you can calculate the exact cost of your order. Well they have a tax that is screwy but only a small impact on the total price. No haggling just say what you want and drop the deposit off and then wait for 6 to 8 weeks. Waited 6 weeks and that was through Christmas and New Years so I have to believe 6 weeks is a reasonable expectation.

Definitely a stinker - I'd be pulling my order.

Re: time from order to delivery?

Hi All.
Update as I'm the OP of this thread. I asked my dealer for documentation showing that the order has indeed been placed. And sure enough, they ordered it Jan 21, the day after I put down the deposit. I feel better now. I'm not sure why they were reluctant to provide this info as it seems obvious that somebody placing a deposit on a ordered vehicle would want to see such documentation. But I think they are just crazy busy and trying to take short cuts to save time. Anyhow, the VON number was on the factory order slip they sent to me, so I can now track it.

As mentioned, I'm OK with waiting. I just needed documentation that they had actually ordered it.

Thanks for all the great information. This forum is really handy.
