Its a Rage Powersports SMC-600

I may make a separate post about it since I haven't found a lot of discussion on the subject. It came with two separate anti-sway mechanisms (I use both) and I can stand on one side while it barely tilts at all. Its much more sturdy than it looks. Its about 100 lbs, and without QL I wouldn't be able to mount it by myself.

thrawn86, yes I'd be interested in a separate thread on that. If you created that, let us know here and I'll discuss there. There are other riders here, as you'd imagine. Thanks for your info.

Nice! Makes a lot of sense. My father in law was adding rear air shocks for towing back in the '60's.

Re: Tow Package + Air Suspension

The self leveling(nivomat) shocks are separate from the air suspension leveling. The do assist the rear airbags maintain a level stance when there is a load on the hitch.

It worked beautifully. I honestly couldn't even tell that there was 500+ lbs hanging off the back of the hitch and the entire rack was rock solid on the road.

There was not really a noticeable sag after loading (before driving it) and I did hear the compressors working periodically as I got everything tied down.

Chances are you have given the police a reason to stop you since your license plate is no longer visible, been there done that....other than that I like what you have created.

Was that the sole reason they pulled you over? People have hitch mounted cargo containers that block the rear license plate, or even the flat cargo platforms could be loaded up with gear that blocks the plate.

Mine is an R1200RT (BMW). At 570 lbs it is too heavy for the 500-lb carrier. I might sell the RT and get a smaller, lighter bike. I like the idea of mounting a bike in the back. It would be a great way to travel - long distances in the GC, and then the bike for some local exploring and easy parking. I'm considering the concept, anyway.

Re: Tow Package + Air Suspension

I have an R1150RT and towed it behind my missus Subaru. I used a Kendon Stand-up trailer, which would be perfect for the Jeep

I had 3 large coolers on a cargo hitch platform partially blocking my license plate which then invoked 'probable cause' to kick in, a reason to stop you. Once law enforcement has you stopped the fun begins.....

Re: Tow Package + Air Suspension

Yeah I see people with cargo containers all the time, that being said I definitely plan on getting another plate mount and some brake lights.

Mine says rated for 600 lbs. The mototote (similar model) is rated for 550. That being said, I have a hard time loading the 360 lb ninja by myself as it is. I see people walk the bike up in 1st gear but I haven't quite got the hang of it yet.
