Towing

Who has actually towed with their ecodiesel? And how did it do? I'm talking something that has some weight to it, like a car or another jeep.... I've been thinking of buying one to tow my srt to the track.

I have towed 5000 lbs so far, and I could hardly tell I was even towing.

The Aussies have been towing their RVs (called Caravans there) with the VM 3.0 powered GC for a few years now.

The Towing thread

Here's a thread where a guy is towing a 6600 lb Airstream with our 50 states NAFTA diesel.

Max you guys have towed?

Re: Towing

I've been towing our admittedly lighter RPOD 182 - it's like it isn't really there. I got 17mpg on our shot over the Santa Cruz mountains, too. We're now looking at getting a toy hauler, and I have total confidence in the GC to tow it.

Works for us.

Wink Re: Towing

I towed a horse trailer from Charlotte NC to Fort Pierce Florida two weeks ago with my two week old 2014 JGC Summit diesel and the tow was effortless. The three horse trailer was lightly loaded with only 15 bales of hay making the total trailer weight of around 3200 lbs.

Re: Towing

I towed my 3,000 lb trailer from Tucson to Death Valley and back (1,200 miles). Vehicle and diesel were great. I got 23 mpg compared to 16 mpg I would get with my previous vehicle (5.3L V8 2011 Silverado).

Re: Towing

Thanks for the replies everyone, Ill have to check out the links that were posted. Im hoping that the combined weight of my SRT(4900lbs) and say maybe an open aluminum trailer will be with in the limits. If so, Ill be talking my wife into wanting one because she is due for a new vehicle....haha

Re: Towing

Here in Australia have a mate with a 2014 CRD and he has an enclosed car trailer with an all up weight of around 3000kg (2.2lb = 1 kg) and he returned 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway at (60MPH) that's almost 24 miles to the US Gallon.

Re: Towing

I tow a 3.5tonne boat with my ecodiesel, no problems average around 19/20 ltrs per 100. I used to tow with a 4.7ltr 100series land cruiser and the jeep would eat it up. By the way I have a summit.
