Transmission Shudder

I know that there was some discussion(s) about this issue about nine months ago but haven't seen anyone mention this lately.

My JGC still has the shudder...occurs at times around 50 mph or so...but is definitely intermittent. Lifting my foot of the gas pedal usually eliminates the shudder.

But more broadly, are folks still experiencing this issue?

And if not, what solved the problem?

Re: Transmission Shudder

I had the issue, went in for the TSB and it went away and hasn't been back. It's been ~6,000 miles since I had it corrected.

Re: Transmission Shudder

MIne was gone all winter. It seems to have come back with the higher temperatures. Frustrating. I really like this Jeep and don't want to go shopping for a new vehicle.

Re: Transmission Shudder

Had the TSB software update done on the tranny yesterday. So far, no shudder and I think that the transmission now shifts even better (more smoothly) than before the TSB. Let's hope that fixes the problem as it was starting to get annoying!

I brought the vehicle in due to the CEL illuminated...something about a "lean mixture" was found...so they updated the PCM software as well.

Re: Transmission Shudder

Well it happened again...got the shudder when entering a highway from the on-ramp. Damn...so now I know that the TSB didn't "fix" the problem. Also, after refueling (with Chevron diesel), the CEL again illuminated...so back to the dealer we go. Ugh...!

Re: Transmission Shudder

Dropped my 2014 GC diesel off today to get the cat replaced and hopefully fix the mil light and regen issue and also to fix the occasional shudder at highway speeds which actually occurred on way to drop it off again. Problems started at about 9500 and now around 12k. Am I going to have to lemon law this suv or is anyone really getting these issues fixed? The trans was flashed couple months ago and have read one where they replaced whole transmission and did not fix problem?

Re: Transmission Shudder

You might consider checking out TSB 009-006-15. There is a thread about it here that describes much of what you're experiencing. Unfortunately, the repair is not a simple one. Good luck!

Re: Transmission Shudder

Yea, I see it's not in the transmission but the carbon build up on exhaust valve(s)...no chance that i'm gong to get the engine partially rebuilt for a now somewhat occasional problem. Plus, gunning the accelerator seems to clear it.
