Re: TSB - Shift improvements for 2014 3.0L Diesel (Feb 28/2015)

I had the latest flashes installed today: PCM, TCM, and amplifier (who knew? the amplifier has software). I can confirm that the Eco-mode is still not persistent across a power cycle. Since that is the only item flagged as new, it does make you wonder what function really is in the latest TCM flash. I was not having any real transmission issues, I just figured it would be good to get the update since it seems to fix odds and ends. I have a big trip upcoming towing a travel trailer (about 5,000 pounds) and thought improved engine braking would be good. And getting the latest PCM update makes sense to avoid exhaust errors.

Update: After driving a week plus I do believe shifting has been improved though I still would prefer that the tranny wouldn't downshift so fast when accelerating especially since I have the diesel with plenty of torque, it seems unnecessary during highway maneuvers.

Re: TSB - Shift improvements for 2014 3.0L Diesel (Feb 28/2015)

Our shifts were smooth as butter although we did start getting the "fish-biting shudder" sometimes around 45 MPH on flat roads or climbing hills at 55 MPH. I haven't noticed that in the last few weeks since the flash.

Had the TSB done. Still getting the shudder exactly at the same speeds and conditions as described in the previous post...very annoying.

Re: TSB - Shift improvements for 2014 3.0L Diesel (Feb 28/2015)

Ugg. My JGC Diesel had been running perfectly on the original PCM software when the car was delivered. Jeep dealership just installed some new PCM flash during some recall work and now the car bucks and stutters in the 2-3 gear range. So annoying.

Any way to tell what they flashed my car with?

Look on the service invoice. If they applied a TSB or RRT it should be listed there (though it isn't identified as such). Match to TSB list on wk2jeeps.com.

Just got the update. Never thought I had problems with the transmission, but surprisingly smoother shifting now.

Re: TSB - Shift improvements for 2014 3.0L Diesel (Feb 28/2015)

I am back from a couple thousand miles of towing a 5000 pound travel trailer to/from the mountains of California with the latest PCM and TCM updates. I had no problems and the transmission shifting was great. I was really surprised to discover that the cruise control automatically downshifted as needed to provide engine braking going downhill. I highly recommend the latest updates.

Re: TSB - Shift improvements for 2014 3.0L Diesel (Feb 28/2015)

Still have the transmission shudder at times on my rig despite having all the PCM and TCU software updated. So it's still not resolved on my JGC diesel...

Re: TSB - Shift improvements for 2014 3.0L Diesel (Feb 28/2015)

My Eco Diesel is in the shop now waiting for a new catalyst and I've asked them to update the TSM. Hopefully an improvement from the jerky 2-1 downshift and no change in MPG.
