From reading some of GDE's posts on the RAM forums, it sounds like our little stock turbo is a bottleneck holding them back too.
Come to think of it, you're probably right. The GTB2052 on our cars (I think that's the one, I know it's a 20 series garret) is fairly small for a 3.0L. I'm sure that particular turbo was chosen for drivability reasons.

I have ordered the green diesel engineering tune. I'm picking it up tomorrow. Watch for a new post with my impressions. I had the GDE Eco tune on my old 07WK. Really looking forward to see the improved mileage. My best tank to date was 25.97 city. My normal commute to work is eleven miles and consists of a mixture of stop signs and traffic lights. The drive takes between 25 and 30 minutes to give you an idea of what I encounter in a normal day. I don't race the vehicle but I don't really baby it either. I try to coast to lights if I don't interfere with traffic.

Re: Tuning your EcoDiesel

I've let Matt at GD know that I'm ready to buy, just a few remaining questions regarding some mildly persistent CIL that I continue to get.

I have no concerns about the tune itself, and imo it will make my Jeep more reliable. But with continuing problems from my Jeeps sensors, Jeep might not see it that way once I go in for another warranty claim and they see it's been messed with.

Hi mazster43, I am interested to know how you can purchase the WK2 GDE tune??
I am told that it is not yet available.

If you are actually purchasing it, I would be interested in your thoughts....power / economy etc.

Cheers, Craig

The tune is available, at least in the States. I haven't drove the Jeep much since the install but so far the mileage is increasing. I will give an in depth review after I go through the first tank and I've had some time to drive it.

Very interested in hearing your impressions as you are the guinea pig and I used to have the GDE Eco Tune with DPF Delete in my '07 CRD.

Jaje, you will like the tune. It's everything the Eco tune on the WK was and more. After I get through a full tank of fuel I'll do a full review. Some quick teasers for you: the mileage is so far up 4mpg, the acceleration is very nice, and the engine is a touch throatier sounding.

Did it cure some of the turbo lag?

Re: Tuning your EcoDiesel

Hmm been thinking about some pro's and con's of both the "chips" and "ECU flash tunes".

Chip like Bluespark:
Less expensive
Completely invisible once removed and leaves no trace
Raises fuel pressure
Spins turbo faster
Wears out equipment faster
Increases stress on exhaust filtration system
Negligible fuel savings

GDE flash tune:
Better performance
Cleaner
Less stress on components
Less stress on exhaust filtration system
More expensive
Easier to detect by checking "last ECU flash and ignition cycles" data

Basically the chip isn't as good but you are more safe for warranty. The ECU flash is the best but you gamble more.
