I will concur about the the benighted imperial system, but writing dates as d/m/y is nearly as bad as the US system. Everyone should switch to ISO 8601
. Personally, I use ISO 8601 for all computerized dates because they sort correctly, but I just write my dates on paper as "23 Aug 2014", which is unambiguous. I even do it on tax forms that expect digits only. Take that, government!
I switched my JGC to metric display, including speedometer. That forced me to memorize the equivalents. I found it easiest to round up the kph to the nearest 5 to keep the numbers simple (e.g. 45 mph as 75 kph). Temperatures are easier because they don't need to be converted... just learn what "cold", "warm", and "hot" mean for you.
