Did you expand one end? Also, did you have any issues with the pipe coming loose under boost?

One end came expanded already. I welded a bead on the right side to keep the clamp from slipping off. I've floored it multiple times and have yet to blow it off under boost.

The 'resonator' seems to perform a noise reduction for diesel clatter.
This. I am very happy with the sound of the K&N setup. Not too loud, but makes truck unmistakable from a gasser.

Re: Turbo whistle

Sorry in USD haha. So a hell of a lot more for us then

Also the more air the turbo gets the more noise and power it produces. A CAI may help with a bit of noise but getting rid of the intake muffler will make the most noticeable difference. But with a CAI wouldnt hurt. Just not a fan of oiled filters.

Please let us know if you purchase just the straight pipe from K&N. Would you be running the stock air filter with this straight pipe? I would get the entire kit from K&N, but I don't want my engine to draw hot engine air instead of cold outside. I would like the straight pipe instead of the plugged silencer I have. Using drop in K&N instead of the stock one. Next step is the pipe.

Re: Turbo whistle

Just got this reply from K&n Tech. Haven't had time to follow up for price yet:
Hello Dave,

Thank you for your email. Yes, we do sell the Intercooler Pipe separately. The part number you need is 27625S. You will need to contact customer support to get a cost and to place your order.

Re: Turbo whistle

Called K&N today, if you wanted to buy just the Tube, you will also have to get the parts kit that includes the bracket as well as an adapter. Those are as follows:
Tube - "J" - 27625
Silicone Adapter - "J" - AEM-5-255
Parts Kit (the only way to get the couple small parts and bracket if you need all of them) - K631570

Total price of $161.97.

If you only needed one or 2 small parts with the tube, look at the installation instructions for the kit (63-1570) on K&Ns website (PDF) and it lists all the parts numbers. You have to call K&N Customer Service for prices or to order these individually.
