How long is the free subscription period?
1 year free subscription. No Wi Fi. It gives you Yelp, remote start/lock, allows you to use the buttons on mirror (911/roadside assist), vehicle theft assistance, and a few other small things. I have only used the remote start app a few times. The only thing I used on a frequent basis was Yelp. It's free on the iPhone.

I think a while back someone called Chrysler and confirmed the 911 feature will continue to be able to call 911 after the subscription lapses. Probably so they don't get themselves in trouble with the FCC for not allowing the cell card to call 911 without a subscription like standard cell phones are required to.

Re: U connect subscription expired

I agree UConnect is greatly overpriced. With great reluctance I did renew it this past week only because it provides a direct connection to roadside assistance from Chrysler. Redundant with my mobile phone, but given all the problems with the DEF injector I want to be sure I can contact someone if I am off road and out of cell tower range. I'm not pleased with this expensive insurance to deal with Chrysler's poor DEF design and lack of responsibility for providing a fix other than zip ties.

If you're out of cell phone range, UConnect isn't going to help you. UConnect uses 3G cell phone signal for it's services as well.

Re: U connect subscription expired

^^ Yep, it will not help if out of Cell Range, and worse yet they use Sprint which in my area has lousy coverage to begin with...

However, my wife has a bad tendency to leave her Cell Phone at work/home and also likes to run the gas tank down to fumes before refilling so I hate to say it but when its due I will almost definitely renew just for the roadside assistance support.

Wife's can't live with em, cant live witho.... wait, nevermind....

Re: U connect subscription expired

I also did not renew UConnect. I think it is month to month so I considered renewing it for the Winter and then ditching it when it gets warmer. But it's useless right now since my JGC won't remote start at all with the Check Engine Light on. Waiting for parts.....waiting....waiting

Also XM radio quality is so bad. I also just use my phone to stream Pandora and Spotify. Sounds phenomenal.

Do the SRT Performance Pages cease to work once the uConnect service is lapsed?

Yes I asked this question long ago.. what do the buttons actually do and does the 911 button work after your subscription ends? My dealer could not answer this accurately....

911 button continues to work if you have a subscription or not the same as any cell phone will make a 911 call regardless. its probably a law to prevent people for dying for lack of a subscription.

Re: U connect subscription expired

I could be wrong, but isn't the talk to text feature part of the Uconnect subscription? without Uconnect you can still use the list of standard responses, but I think composing new texts with voice requires Uconnect...

I was going to say this. I think you need the subscription to use the talk to text features. It may also need it for the voice commands (i.e. "Set Passenger temp to 78 degrees").

Also, my Uconnect access expiration date shows as 4/2022 (the end of my extended warranty).

Re: U connect subscription expired

As I recall talk to text does not yet work with UConnect. I did recently see incoming text messages on the dash screen, but did not see a way to reply via talk to text.
