Any thoughts for paying 15/mo for UConnect access. To me, this seems outrageous for what you get. Just want to hear what others think.

I would pay 15 a month if...

A. It used its own data thereby taking a data consumer off my cell data.
B. It used Google satellite imagery on the nav which it would of course download off its own data connection.
C. It included Sirius. Frankly I almost never listen to it because I can stream from my phone with better sound quality but if it were thrown in I would consider it a value add for times when I accidentally left my phone in my coat which I often toss in the back seat.

Do those things and I'm in, right now it does nothing for me that my phone doesn't do better. To be honest I wouldn't pay anything for the service as is, I get no value whatsoever from it now. I remote started my car once over the internet just to check it out and the apps don't work as well as the native apps on my phone so I never use them.

One last to be honest... I get tired of boy wonders trying to think up new ways to get recurring income and most particularly when they want to offer up a steaming pile of dung in exchange for that money. They can get someone else to pay for the champagne on the corporate jet.

I agree UConnect is greatly overpriced. With great reluctance I did renew it this past week only because it provides a direct connection to roadside assistance from Chrysler. Redundant with my mobile phone, but given all the problems with the DEF injector I want to be sure I can contact someone if I am off road and out of cell tower range. I'm not pleased with this expensive insurance to deal with Chrysler's poor DEF design and lack of responsibility for providing a fix other than zip ties.

^^ Yep, it will not help if out of Cell Range, and worse yet they use Sprint which in my area has lousy coverage to begin with...

However, my wife has a bad tendency to leave her Cell Phone at work/home and also likes to run the gas tank down to fumes before refilling so I hate to say it but when its due I will almost definitely renew just for the roadside assistance support.

Wife's can't live with em, cant live witho.... wait, nevermind....

I also did not renew UConnect. I think it is month to month so I considered renewing it for the Winter and then ditching it when it gets warmer. But it's useless right now since my JGC won't remote start at all with the Check Engine Light on. Waiting for parts.....waiting....waiting

Also XM radio quality is so bad. I also just use my phone to stream Pandora and Spotify. Sounds phenomenal.

I was going to say this. I think you need the subscription to use the talk to text features. It may also need it for the voice commands (i.e. "Set Passenger temp to 78 degrees").

Also, my Uconnect access expiration date shows as 4/2022 (the end of my extended warranty).

Just hit "Reply via VR" This option will not appear if your phone doesn't support it.

the talk to text feature works really well....you have to sign up and activate your Uconnect acct....even for your free one year trial. It is a neat feature, incoming text messages go to a voice notification which tells you "you have a new text message from (whoever)" you then have the option to view or listen to it. If you select listen, it is read to you in the usual computerized woman's voice. this all works, as far as I know, whether you have the Uconnect account active or not. You then have the option of replying...just hit, or say reply and you can talk you text message up to a certain number of charecters (I forget how many)...but this feature requires you have an active account. It's neat if you text a lot, but I don't know if I will pay for it once the free year is up.

My phone, Nokia Lumia 1520 running Windows Phone 8.1, is not compatible with the U-Connect Text-to-Voice system. But my phones internal system via "Cortana" reads all my messages and allows me to speak a response without needing U-Connect. So, outside of the "Assist" button and perhaps Stolen Vehicle Tracking I don't see much value in keeping the subscription beyond my trial period.

We got 15/mo subscription and so far it is worth in the winter, specially if you live in a cold area and you want to start your car before leaving your work.

The wireless hotspot is good when you are traveling and no one has data plan and you want the non driver occupants to use that with their laptop.
We bought it for one month during our trip to Florida.

Is there anyone out there that takes a laptop on a trip and has a phone without a data plan? Also the car hotspot is a slow 3G one and is outrageously expensive.

As I have mentioned, my 2014 was purchased with 6k miles on it. Looking into uconnect it seems that the first owner must have asked for a credit and never had it installed. My rear view mirror has no buttons on it, but does have auto dimming. The uconnect people can't really figure it out. The only reason I tried to see about it was I wanted to play Pandora without starting it on my phone and then hitting the blue tooth button on the radio screen.

Reading this thread makes me think I'm not missing anything, and maybe the first owner wasn't quite the idiot I've been thinking he/she was.

Oh, and the radio 8.4a doesn't have an Apps button. Is this part of uconnect or are there things I'm gonna need?
