Can someone in the know answer this question. If you have a 2014 ECODIESEL the manual in a Warning Box says you need a WDH if you tow more than 3500lbs.
In my 2015, the diesel supplement and the general manual, have the same warning box, but it says you need a WDH if you tow more than 5000lbs.
I'm not aware of any differences in towing parameters and equipment of my 2015 and the 14's. I assume you folks with a 14 have a class 4 hitch from the factory like I do. So what's up! Mike

Holdover from prior WK2 years documentation? I know it was a recent year that they added the anti-sway system to the computer systems so they could increase the max tow ratings. Maybe that has something to do with it?

My 2014 has the trailer anti-sway feature.

Personally, I feel OK towing my 4900# TT without a WDH with this vehicle (the newer JGC is a much more stable towing platform than my 2000 WJ), but the overall handling with a WDH is so much better - particularly on winding mountain roads -I always use it on trips.

If you are towing an rv I think it would be wise to use the WDH over the 3500 lbs. The issue with the Jeep is the payload capacity and the wheelbase. Rvs tend to be a bit more demanding to pull then say a boat trailer or flat trailer. It's not all about the maximum tow capacity number.
The WDH will push some of the weight back to the front axle. I also highly recommend a unit with anti sway.
