This is what I did as well, have a stack of 2.5 gallon boxes in the garage. Just a tip, go to advanced auto, you can find better deals then $17. Right now is $15 and if you get $50 worth you can use coupon code MISSUE41 for 35% off. So about $3.90 a gallon and you can fill it when you want. I actually placed my order online to be picked up in the store and they had it on a cart waiting for me, even took it out and help me load it in the Jeep.

Thanks for the heads up! Just went online and did the same thing - a terrific deal!

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Went to Advanced Auto and got another 2 1/2 gallons of DEF for $13.49 plus tax. That's nearly 1/2 the price the local Jeep dealer charges. They gave me $1.50 off the original price of $14.99 when I showed my retired military ID card.

I paid $15 for 2.5 gallons at AutoZone in Los Angeles. BTW, LOVE my Overland diesel!

As more of these units roll all the consumables will become more reasonably priced... including the oil AND Filters hopefully... Of course there are more and more DEF Heavy trucks on the road too so that does help.

Apparently the cheapest DEF can be bought at certain Pilot flying J locations in Canada and the US. ,right from the pump. Eighty cents/liter CDN or $2.80 USD/ US gallon. Remember too, DEF does have a certain shelflife dependant upon storage conditions...The higher the temp. the shorter the shelflife . I would not want to store too much.

This brings up an interesting question. What is the harm in going past 0% oil life? If it is just a computer calculation, it may or may not represent the actual condition of the oil. Why can the VW diesels simply go 10,000 miles and the Jeeps can't? Are the diesel engines that different?

There is no way that the life of the oil is depleted at 3,500 miles. I would question the method that this is determined. I don't have a problem changing the oil at 5K as I do on my Powerstroke but I don't like throwing money out the window either. Get it flashed and see if that changes the intervals.

I got the flash done, after about 100 miles its down to 96%. Still seems to be dropping too quickly, but will give it some more time....

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

The VW use a much higher spec oil that takes a lot longer to degrade from what I understand, might be just marketing though. I had a skoda that ran VW spec oil and came out looking pretty clean after 10k, put a lower spec oil in the next service and looked black as hell even after 4-5k/kms

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Getting the flash done on Thursday to see what the change is. 3K on the ride and I am at 30% which is ridiculous given the very little in town driving I do and in Florida where temps are now that low.

10K oil changes might be possible given ideal not normal conditions I fear. I plan to do Blackstone on my first and 2nd changes to see how the oil fares. That will help me determine how good the algorithm is for computing change intervals.

VW is not using a superior oil to what is in the JGC diesel so they just allow more blow by than what Jeep does in the VM engine.

My SuperDuty was changed religiously at 5K miles and was always very black older designed engine with plenty of blow by.

Hope we can all get to 10K oil changes once more data is gathered by users...
