Skittle Farting Unicorn - first penned by Chivvalry, I believe, as many of us had been waiting for about a year since rumors first surfaced of the JGC diesel, and we began to wonder if it was simply a myth, much like the unicorn. "Skittle" refers to the rainbow often seen in unicorn pictures, often appearing to come from the animals hind quarters.... Hope that helps. Search the forum threads for "skittle farting unicorn" and you can read back through some of the fun. Don't ask about inverted pork rectums....

Anybody else see this underneath the hood lid? Weather stripping on one side but not the other?

Think that might be to direct the air into the air filter or something like that. Looked at that on mine before and that's what it appeared to be for. Oh mine is a diesel. Also could be to keep debris from going down into the air filter tube.

I was topping of my windshield fluid last night and cannot believe...no underhood light.

Seriously?!?!?!?!?!?

As far as I know yes they are the only ones since this is a new engine for the US. Not a lot of tuners in Europe or OZ but maybe some of our other members can let us know. I know that once the numbers go up many will begin to turn this. Remember Gail Banks has already tuned this engine to a max output so I am betting he will be coming out with some products as will Bully Dog and SCMT.
We just have to wait a while until there is volume to dictate tuners spending IRAD money...
I am interested as well as I ran a STMC tune on my Super Duty...

From decatur il to denver, is everyone else seeing this kind of mileage I was expecting more????

You are also running winter blend. It will improve with the summer blend. Also, if this is your first fill, it was run a long time at the plant, therefore, unless you reset the milage with the fill, it will read low.

It has been my experience that 30 MPG Is virtually impossible running 70+ In the 4x4. To get 30, you have to be very conservative with driving style and the hills and wind have to be in your favor

Or have a NASCAR guy or gal give you a push. My total ave mpg Is 25.8 over 3180 miles. I am not a hyper miler but I am conservative both in speed and throttle. Wind, cold, blended fuel and warming the diesel up reduce mpg. It's not a VW Passat tdi, I love the jeep...an honest 25 is what I hoped for and that is what she does! Loving it in South Dakota!

Hi All,

My wife and I just back from a 600+ mile round-trip from Las Cruces to Tucson (on one tank of diesel). We had the ACC set at 75 mph and our two-way average was 28.2 mpg (the trip computer read 28.6). This includes some driving in Tucson. My gues is that at 70 mph we'd hit 30 mpg.

Cheers,
Jim

I have a couple hundred thousand miles driving diesels and in winter you lose 30% when it is cold because of the added resistance of everything being cold and the winter blend. It happened every year I owned my Super Duty so I think once spring is here and they get winter blend out you will see good mpg.

Well it arrived on 4 Jan 2014 in Las Vegas and picked up on 6 Jan 2014 and driven back to St. George, Utah. At present it has about 330 miles. Here are a few pictures in the mountains way off road around St. George. Oh and yes I'm running the Nitto Terra Grapplers 265 x 50R x 20.

Nice! St. George is beautiful, too.

It looks great out out there! I've always loved the St. George area. Which dealer did you work with in LV? shoot me a PM if you don't want to post that info here. I had a really good experience last summer with one of the LV dealers and a difficult to troubleshoot issue with my ZJ. Thanks!

Yes St. George is really nice and it's a night and day difference from Chicago, believe me. The dealer I worked with in Vegas, opened I think in August of last year, they came from Arizona, it's called Sahara, it's 5050 W. Sahara, Las Vegas, Nevada. Checked out all of the dealers in Vegas and they were the only one that talked like they had some sense.

I loved my duratracs when I had them on my H3. My fondest memory was going out in the middle of the 4ft noreaster we got last year in them. Never had a traction problem with them.

They were definitely louder than my current tires, but they looked mean and handled any situation I threw at them. Jury is still out on the AT Adventures, but they've held up well thus far and are as silent as the stock lats that came with the Jeep.

Wanted to take a moment and say thanks to everybody in these forums for the insights and experiences. I've been a long time lurker (about 6 months now), waiting to see how everything panned out the electrical and other issues that were happening over the summer. It gave me pause but very excited to take delivery of a Overland Diesel tomorrow. I got everything I wanted on it (Advanced Tech, Off Road and Engine Block heater) for around $5k under MSRP. Easy transaction done almost completely through email.

Block heater nothing....

-8 degrees the other day and my beasty SFU diesel fired up no problem. A little rattly until he warmed up but no issue whatsoever starting.

Like a lot of metallics Auburn looks fantastic in the sunlight but night is a different story. I own it mind you so I obviously like it but it should be kept in mind that the shimmering daylight copperish tone becomes something that would color blend with a turd at night. A little different than a metallic maroon (for instance) which just looks like a dull red at night.

Lol! Maybe this will serve as a "camouflage" to deter thieves from stealing it at night.

Just a suggestion - why don't you open a new thread under troubleshooting or whatever its called - you have a much better chance of getting help there - and yes there have been some reports of that on here - IIRC something that traced back to a bad ground or loose wire????

Glad to see everyone is still enjoying their jeeps. I'm still dealing with the intermittent problem of the 4 wheel drive abs acc and trac control all going out. Also had the check engine light come on which had to be serviced. When it's working correctly it has been great. Even in the-30 temps we get to all the time here.
At about 1 month and 2000 miles now with def and oil looking good. Avg mpg has been around 25 and only 5 trips to the service department.

Has anyone else used the remote start from the key fob, then opened the hood and the car stopped? It's happened a couple times where I used the remote start, then needed to unplug the block heater and when I opened the hood the car stopped. I also had a similar incident opening the rear passenger door and the engine quit.

I have not looked it up in the 600 page Jeep bible but that is what happens when you remote start the engine then open the hood. It will cancel out. I don't know about the rear passenger door. The Jeep Owners Manual does say on page 20 that one of the conditions for remote start is Hood being closed.
