They have been great and never any problems; I've run them from Chicago to DC to St. Geroge Utah to Vegas and back many times. Like I said not an expert but they worked well for me.
I have had several pair of Nokian Vatiivas over the years. I found them to be excellent year round. Very good in snow and slush and able to handle mild offroad..ie logging roads and muddy trails. Unfortunately they no longer make the Vatiiva's. I have been told that the Nokian Rotiiva's are a good replacement- unless you want a full on snow tire.

Vtail, I believe you may have addressed this in a prior post, so sorry for inquiring again. Is your lifetime warranty for $2200 from CNA? If so, how is that different from one from Zeigler (which, I believe does not offer lifetime for the CRD)? Do we have to get it through a dealer and did you negotiate it? What is your deductible? For coverage purposes, is is equivalent to Zeigler's/Chrysler's MaxCare? I've never purchased a service contract/extended warranty on anything, believing them a waste of money. But I'm seriously considering it with this vehicle. I'd like to know where I stand when picking it up in a few days. Thanks.

I did a pass at 40mph and hit 70 super fast. You will not have any problems there besides wanting to pass everyone.

Yes, CNA. Must be purchased through an authorized CNA dealer and as I understand it, from the same dealer you purchase the vehicle. So that limits your options there. We negotiated the warranty at the same time as the vehicle price. $100 deductible. As far as I can tell it is virtually the same as the Chrysler Maxcare. Hope this helps. I'm still undecided as to whether or not to purchase the extended warranty.

DEF Regen Warnings

So, when your Unicorn is Constipated, here is what happens....

I was driving extremely short distances and using Remote start a lot the first foe days I had the truck. Also probably didn't help that the Unicorns got most of their first few miles at low speeds and cold starts.

Here is the Notice I got today (no big deal, I drive straight trucks sometimes and have seen this sort of thing before). Thank goodness it told me to drive safely, I always though Regen should be performed at 100 on dirt roads .

You can turn the vehicle off and choose to do this a little bit later but once you start you should keep going. The Regen will take 10-15 minutes to complete with normal highway driving (50-70 MPH works very well). Once you drive around a little here is what you see. Notice the RED ring around the Speedo to draw attention to it, once you start, you should just let it finish.

Again, I don't expect you will see this very often unless you are using this as the grocery getter. Also most of you will likely want to take her our and really stretch her legs, whereas I have just been farting around and been too busy to go for a REAL DRIVE!!!

I did see a minor impact on fuel economy while this was going on, but no biggy, and I still think the start stop of transport was likely a contributor.

I'm sure you will but please let us know if you see that again and what your driving conditions were like... I'm wondering how often the regen has to happen...

On by '07 I think the regens were every 750 miles like clockwork. The only way I could they were happening was the engine sounded muffled, like the exhaust was under water.

Which is why I am a bit surprised at seeing a regen so early. Only 72 miles??

Regens should be even less frequent on the newer units than the older. It was my fault entirely and I wasn't surprised, I drive it less than a mile repeatedly over the last week, they had it in about out of the shop (New Tires etc). Plus all the idle and slow moving around the plant. I can totally see how it happened.

I will report back if and when I see anything come up at all.

Thx,

Trigger is on a distinguished road
Is there any sort of gauge or data giving you an idea when the next regen will occur? If you shut the car off during a regen and turn it back on, will the regen light still be on? The aftertreatment system was and is my biggest concern for the crd. Hopefully there are no big issues.

My old Mercedes had DPF and SCR. It never came up once during the ownership. I also have never driven so little in a week.

I posted it more as a "if you ever see this don't panic"

I figured we are more likely to see this as our diesels sat for a month, were idled and juggled around occasionally but probably NEVER really got warmed up to burn the waste off that would normally happen on the highway without you ever knowing!

At least you guys get a warning and a chance to act on it. In Aus, we get the warning then it locks you in 4th gear and won’t let you accelerate to be able to induce regen mode.
Brilliant little decision of programming that one was. The car has to go back to dealer for them to physically empty the filter.

I do wonder if this is getting back to the programming guys to issue a TSB to fix.
