The tailgates are all okay. The tail lights are in various positions.

They can be slightly modified moved if loosened.

On mine the driver trail light is one problem. you can see the upper right corner bends too far past the back of the housing and contacts the body. This causes a gap around the whole perimeter of the housing on the quarter panel.

The gap between the bumper cover and hatch on the driver side is very right. The gap between the hatch and quarter panel is good. So I think the bumper cover needs to be adjusted.

Exactly. Should take the dealer 5 minutes to fix this.

Not to change the subject, but I just ordered a BlueSpark Pro + Boost "chip". Its really what we performance diesel guys call a "signal fooler" box. I'll let those of you interested know how it affects economy and drivability when I get it installed next week.

I'm looking for 34 mpg and a little brisker response. I have no plans to punish my new baby.

FYI...I've been running tuned diesels for a long time so don't bother telling me how risky it is. I'm aware and not concerned. If it is as good as the Australian Ecodiesel (VM 3.0 CRD) owners say, I won't be disappointed. If you are a diesel newbie, you probably don't understand the potential of a mildly tuned motor. A well tuned CRD can eat stock Hemi GC's without breaking a sweat.

They just make it so difficult for you to really pick and choose. I'd be willing to pay a little extra if I could just get the SFU the exact way I want it. My clout just doesn't go high enough.

Auto-on headlamps.
Is it just me or is the sensor too sensitive? Headlamps come on at the drop of a hat, or so it seems. Anyone else notice this?

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

For all those experiencing rear taillight and bumper cover gaps issues, here's a write up from a while back in the 'customer build status' thread..

So, with that said, I've been working with some of my 'superiors' on this issue for a few weeks now. From what I've gathered, what you guys are experiencing is NOT a misaligned liftgate. Well at least not in most cases. I'm sure there are some who are sure it is, and who'll say that it was/is their issue. But if you look at (or measure) the gaps on the liftgate in relation to the side aperture (just above the taillights), you'll notice they're even. Well at least in all the cases I've seen. Including the 50 or so I checked out this morning. Which means the liftgate itself ISN'T misaligned, otherwise the rear glass would also be off, as well as the gaps between the taillights themselves.

What you (and probably MOST others) are seeing is a fitment issue with the rear bumper cover/fascia on the upper inner right corner. I've seen many that look perfect, and have a gap equal to that on the left, and some that are not so great. Idk if this is a design flaw in the cover itself, or a procedural issue in the installation of it. But if it is an assembly issue, I can't see why all the gaps on the left are still correct. But either way, the issue is upstairs now.. I hope they rectify it to you all's satisfaction, because my hands are tied at this point.

If I were you I'd inspect the gaps in each of those three spots, and show the issue to the dealer WITHOUT suggesting a liftgate adjustment! Regardless as to what you think, or have heard here. Let them diagnose the problem on an individual basis. Wouldn't wanna see anyone getting their liftgate adjusted unnecessarily, bc they may do just that! Per your request. So let them diagnose it, and fix it... But hopefully it's addressed on this end soon.
As you all can obviously see this has been an issue for some time now. I actually talked to the guys abt it when they were here and showed them the robot that installs the liftgates. It's really a combination of issues, and it's unfortunate that they still haven't totally sorted this out. I've even seen bumper covers that were removed bc the paint was damaged from contact with the liftgate. They did make some adjustments to the parts involved, and the line (robots), but there's still some that aren't quite perfect. So sorry guys, but like I said before, let your dealer diagnose it. Don't ask for a liftgate adjustment bc 9/10 don't need it.

Thanks Chevy, I said a while back when people posted that in most cases it was no big deal and these things happen. I appreciate your input on it as well.

Thanks,

I am VERY interested in hearing more about your experiences with this. As you know I have been looking at this box for quite some time now and you going first will make me a lot more comfortable with taking the plunge. Or not...

I too am interested in your review on the subject. Can you please either post or PM me the actual part number you ordered.

Thanks!
