The burning smell went away after a few hundred miles and came back when I pulled a pretty long hill. My guess is that the turbo and exhaust only heat up when driven hard for more than a few seconds. I suspect all smells will be gone for good after the first regen cycle when temps will hit 1300+. Assembly lubes and stickers are probably the source.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Just put the Husky X-acts in. Perfect! Excellent fit and coverage, and somewhat rubbery material. We've got a winner!

And then ... I almost broke down and cried. Not even 24hrs with my new baby and I've already chipped the paint. I was being an idiot and putting the mats in while parked in the driveway. My driveway has big boulders along the side and it's narrow enough that you can't open the door all the way without hitting them, so I normally don't do much in the driveway, but I was in a hurry to get the new mats in. Lost my balance slightly while putting the mats in and had my hand on the door which pushed it open all the way and *CRUNCH*. I wanted to die when I heard that sound.

Looks like I'll probably have to take it to the paint shop. ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

Such an idiot. For 5 years I've managed not to do that on my beat up old Explorer. 24hrs with my first new car in 19 years and bam. Sigh.

Big time bummer! So careful and things like that still happen. I know how upsetting that can be.

For those interested, I also just received the Husky X-ACT mats and the MOPAR cargo liner. I like the soft rubber feel compared to the plastic feel of the Weathertechs. Laid them out on the floor to warm up and flatten out before putting them in the car, which I don't have yet. SFU is now waiting to be unloaded and then trucked to the dealer. Very close...

It's best to get that first ding out of the way quickly....you did get the Off Road Adventure pack, right? It is inevitable.

What color did you get in the Huskies?....I have the same interior color scheme as you and I am concerned that any tan colored slush mats (weatherbeater, Husky, Jeep) might not match the colors, so am probably going to stick with basic black...goes with everything.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

While I'm waiting for my jeep to arrive (hopefully this week). I keep reading all the info available. In the diesel supplement it says to let the engine idle 2 to 5 minutes before shut down. How are you guys dealing with that? Am I going to have to start arriving everywhere early so I can let the engine idle before shutting it off? If that's the case then this was certainly not designed with my wife in mind.

Only if you have been running real hard like with a trailer or something... it's for the turbo to cool down. Normal driving you really shouldn't worry about it.

If you look at the chart it depends on hard the engine is working before the shutdown. With typical non-towing driving, the one minute or less cool down recommendation probably happens while you're going up the drive and parking it in the garage. I'm not going to worry about it.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

I had an unidentified icon show up in EVIC today, and it is not indicated in any of the documentation. I was idling briefly while waiting on someone to get in the car. I was in ECO mode, and I backed up a bit and moved forward to the right as to not block the driveway. I believe that I had shifted back to drive with foot on the brake when I first noticed the icon. It appeared momentarily to the upper right of the speedometer (analog display). The best way to describe it is as a wavy flag, similar to the old Windows logo. It was green, included a staff, and the flag portion was four squares, which were checkered green and black. I assume since it was green, it is not necessarily a warning icon.

Has anyone else seen this icon. If it comes up again, I'll take a picture.

The wavy green checkered flag appears when you select Sport (S) mode.
