Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Well now, this "Natura" discussion has really taken a turn, so I did a little Google checking myself.

First, after re-reading Willx's post, I do not believe he was confirming anything about the Summit's material. What he did describe was about the Mercedes' seating product.

Second, if Jeep was using the product described on the naturaleather website (the imitation leather, if you will), I would think they'd have to use the "TM" mark to denote it as a registered, trade marked product name, as it is shown on their site. But Jeep doesn't show it that way.

Next, several other websites were listed right under my Google search naturaleather listing, and they all describe natural leather that is processed in a certain way as 2mad2bad posted. A description on one of the other websites (stadlerleather) I found explained that the processing for their natura leather this way:

"This magnificent leather comes from a 100 + year old company that takes pride in producing the finest leathers in the world. Natura is a naked, vacuum dried leather. It is smooth plated which gives the leather a very nice sheen. We select only the very best Northern European raw materials for the production of this leather. Each dye lot coming through production is tested according to German standards (negotiated between the German Council of Furniture Manufacturers and the German Council of Tanners) Natura is tested like a natural analine leather, and should be treated as such. If the hide should become soiled, clean with a damp cloth using warm water and a very mild soap applied directly to the spot required."

This description seems to be consistent with 2mad2bad's post.

So, until someone does confirm which they are, it seems premature for anyone to get upset about it. Having seen, felt, sat in, and fully inspected a Hemi Summit with the Grand Canyon Brown interior, I will accept it either way. It's an absolutely beautiful material which looks, smells and feels like fine leather. If it is a synthetic product that will last longer than the 16 years of my ZJ'z aftermarket leather seats, I'm good with that. And if it is genuine leather, then I'll just have to try to take better care of them than I did in the past.

Correct, I don't know if it is real leather... just saying it doesn't matter to me based on the quality of what I have seen.

Even in vehicles with the highest quality leathers, they mix that with panels of faux leather on seat sides etc.

I was merely stating the fact that I care more about the quality of the product as to weather it actually came from a cow or not.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

I would imagine CJD would have one hell of a lawsuit on their hands if it was not leather as stated on their website and advertising brochures. They go so far as to saying the headliner is suede "like". They DO NOT say leather "like". The brochure says "Natura Plus leather trimmed-seating". Notice how they do not capitalize leather, a trade name would be capitalized.

Therefore, the definition of leather from Merriam-Webster:
"animal skin that is chemically treated to preserve it and that is used in making clothes, shoes, furniture, etc."

It is leather people. Stop it.... Now

You are wrong, just saying. Exactly how does your link prove that Jeep is disclosing that the Summit doesn't have genuine leather?

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

It is NOT 100% leather. Which, contrary to traditional thinking, is actually a good thing.

As was covered before, the seats are a hybrid design. The higher wear areas are part synthetic (side bolsters specifically), and full genuine leather in other areas.. All the materials used are porous and breathable, and someone explained that caring for the seats is the same as you would on other leather seating. Can't remember who, but someone went to a leather specialist for advice who was well out in front on this.

It's been noted many times over that these seats are superior to full leather seating. Other automakers are moving in the same direction. And are also charging a premium for this style seating. Again, there's a reason why they only come in the lux trim.

If the intent was to cost cut and decieve, wouldn't it make more sense to put the faux stuff in the lower trims and the alleged 'better' (REAL) leather in the Summit? Again, this was covered at length back in initial launch, with many having the same concerns pre-delivery. However, EVERYONE who had similar concerns seem to be very pleased with the seats. Ask any Summit owner which they would prefer, and see what they say..

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

1st weekend in the book.
Took a trip to the cabin for the day with new 14 Eco summit. Have done this drive with 20 different vehicles (suv's/cars/trucks) over 10years.
NEVER have with MPG of 31.2 over 143 miles at 72 mph!!!
What's going to happen when it breaks in???
Positives....
1.great Suv
2. Heated steering wheel is awsome
3. A ton of room for hunting stuff with seat up or down.
4. MILES PER GALLON!
5. Nice ride on hwy
6. Torque is great
7. Touch screen is best I have ever owned
8. Bright head lights
Negatives...
1. We only own one.
2. I am nervous reading others reviews on the JGc's that reliability might not be good. We will find out.
3. Nothing else... Will keep updated!

Once you go Eco diesel you never go back!! Great job jeep!

Okay. These are great tires. I took the truck down one of my favorite motorcycle roads and I got solid handling in the twistys... no roll, no squeal, no slipping. VERY nice.

Then did some highway time on the tires as well... In the words of the immortal Sgt Schultz, "I hear nothing!" Very quiet... no road noise above normal wind sounds. I swear they are as quiet as the stock tires.

HIGHLY recommend these at this point. If they perform as well off road as they do on (and I have some reason to believe they will) then they are a great tire for this truck.

I will have to take another pic with the new tires to replace my sigpic...

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Husky X-act mats are a perfect fit in the new Jeep. The Mopar mat in the back is a fair fit, but will suit my needs. Took half the day yesterday moving everything from the old Jeep into the new one. Tough finding places in the new one, as the old one had several cubby spots that the new one lacks. Still getting used to the new Jeep, but am still amazed.

Did you order a 5th for the spare? If so, any issues fitting it in?

First pics of new ride. Hope to be driving home in about an hour. The diesel is so quiet. This is the first one the dealership got it, and some of the guys didn't even know it was a Diesel engine at idle till I told them. I've been wandering around the dealership for almost 4 hours, everybody has been very helpful, letting me get in the way and ask questions.
