Just hit 3,500 miles on my Feb14 diesel JGC Summit. The MIL malfunction light came on last Sat just driving down the road. The engine had not quite warmed up to operating temps. On the way home I noticed that the resume feature on the cruise control failed to work on the way home. I took it to the dealer this AM at 8 and they had it all day and reflashed it with updates. I was concerned when the service writer kept saying the adaptive cruise would not work when I had told her several times and put it in writing that the resume only would not function. On the way home I checked the entire cruise system, ACC and regular cruise and everything worked well and the MIL light was not on. I'm very happy with the unit and we averaged 25 miles for the tank including mostly 70MPH and some climbing and 100+ city miles. Not bad with the 3.99 diesel.
Ugh! There goes the neighborhood..err community..Next thing you know the diesel freaks will be thinking they should part of the cool kid club.. I'm just kidding people...Congrats on the new section

Is anyone re-shoeing their unicorn? The factory tire is reportedly not optimum (trying to be nice) for snow and off-roading. I like the Goodyear silent armor tires that are on my ZJ. Milous and Willx, how much do you charge to swap tires before my unicorn is put on the train.?
I'm seriously considering it. I live in the mountains outside Denver, and have similar concerns. I was also considering the silent armor, or the newer all terrain adventure as an option. I've run dedicated snow tires like blizzaks, nokians and pilot alpins on my all road and Outback, but I'd prefer a single tire to handle all 4 seasons.
I've read a lot of reviews of the Michelins, and the full range of opinions is out there. My current plan is to drive them and see what I think. I'll keep you posted. BTW, I used to drive amateur rally, and have dabbled as an ice/snow driving instructor, in addition to my day job as a paramedic (driving in all conditions around Vail/Breckenridge). I should be able to get you an objective review of the latitude tours in the snow. Off road will be another cup of tea...
I asked the dealer about tire swaps at purchase, and this isn't really a thing. Although there appears to be a sizeable market for "take off" items that are swapped at new vehicle delivery. You should be able to get some $$ for the OEM tires if you swap them out. Check your local paper or Craig's list.
I'm one of the "in transit" folks...my CRD is on a train and its looking like Monday or Tuesday is my magic day....almost here. Just wanted to post to add this to my active threads. I love reading the initial reviews. Bring em on!
I'm waiting for my vehicle to ship. The 2014 overland ecodiesel is replacing our 2008 CRD. Obviously I'm happy with my switch to diesel almost 6 years ago or there would have been a new Hemi in our garage in September.
Anyone have any experience with Opti-Coat Ceramic Clear Coat for paint protection? The Detail Shop I'm considering recommends it along with Xpel paint protection film. Since the weather turned I now have 6 mile of mud, gravel, and snow to traverse before getting the SFU to the home corral. I'm thinking of heading straight to the Detail Shop after I pick it up. Once I get it home, I won't be able to tell what color it is until Spring.
Perhaps the dealership should have taken more than 2 hours.
I am giving my dealer a full day for PDI, then I plan to take my time to check out every detail with the help of the checklist provided by several posters. We have leverage at time of delivery, returning is an inconvenience I would just as soon avoid.
Is there a general consensus that the Michelin LTX A/T 2 is a better offroad tire than the Michelin Latitudes that come on the GC CRD? I understand that some of you think there are even better offroad tires, but the LTX A/T 2 seems like a good compromise.
Just as a warning - I have the Mich AT/2 tires on my Pathfinder.
They are probably the best tire I've owned for All Terrain use (I mean off-road 5% on road 95%...but really using it when off-road). BUT they have beaten th heck out of my lower doors and bottom moldings. They really pick up and throw gravel and road junk.
Nice. A home of our own. Been scouring the threads since I ordered my unicorn 3 weeks ago. Anyone have intel on how long the 'Scheduled for Production' period is running these days?
You should be in production any day. Become a level 3 supporter here and you can track your jeep from production thru delivery. Level 4 also gives you a custom build sheet.
In the end, isn't the salesperson the ultimate person responsible that the delivery check list is correctly followed? It is his/her sales commission and follow up (i.e. cruise ship) review that is at stake, right?
Just be thankful the dealership didn't fill it up with gas since they didn't seem to follow the checklist.
Now that would suck. I got to the gas station right after a Uhaul truck filled the tank with gas on a diesel. Oh-oh...
