It is a little weird as I find I have to touch the "play" button on the screen, but I guess that makes sense. The low tech method is to get a 1/8" male-to-male stereo patch cable and physically connect the phone to the car's mini-stereo jack input by the SD card slot and then select Aux on the Media screen. You then have to control everything directly on the phone as the phone thinks you are listening through headphones. Hope this helps.
Using Bluetooth does not play Pandora. If rather not wire in the phone and use the aux input. I'll delete the phone pairing and try repairing and see if that works. Thanks

Yup, USB works too but just for mp3 files stored on the phone. With mine it just puts them in one long list (300+) that I have to scroll through to find the one I want. Maybe VR would work for that too, haven't tried it.

Yeah I figure there is probably 3 months a year I will want the remote start app on my phone, key fob isn't strong enough from some places, so will pay the $20 those months. The rest of the time, this does seem like an excessive amount to pay unless they come up with something else in the next year to make it worth it.

I think with the heated seats and steering wheel I will simply let it expire as well. I have no real issue with occasionally sweeping some snow and scraping some ice. Not worth the crazy amount of money for a little convenience.

Pandora has been working fine for me (iPhone). Automatically starts playing when I start the car and is fully controllable from UConnect and steering wheel. It would not work when plugged into the USB, so I've been charging with the cord plugged into the back seat and the phone inside the center console (nice little slot to run the cord through). The first time it automatically starting playing from iTunes. Paused iTunes via the phone, opened and hit play on Pandora, no issues since.

The complete package with everything Sirius offers direct from them is less than that making for a fairly thin business plan. Something doesn't jive. I just called Jeep again and they state the car will use the on board data connection for the on board apps and says Sprint is the data provider. They said the via phone allows you to use your phone instead of their plan if you don't wish to sign up. I tried to check this myself on my test drive but the car did not have any apps already downloaded and wouldn't let me download without signing up.

As to 3G I typically see between 1 to 3.5 downstream which while weak for HD video is more than enough for Pandora. Many areas around here don't have 4G and are not even on any (published) road maps as to when it might be coming but people use it just fine as they did before 4G ever fooled out anywhere.

To be clear I'm in no way saying anyone is right or wrong but I have to date not seen anyone post that they attempted this without a connected phone to prove it out one way or another.

@vtail I used my phone to stream Pandora to the radio as well as listening to mp3s to test the stereo. Twice, because I at first was going to get the Overland but then decided I wanted to hear the summit to see if it was worth the upgrade. I'm a long way from expert but am tech aware. In my case I hover right at the limit of my data plan so unlimited use of the car data will mean not only upgrading my data plan but also the bosses who is in the same boat. IF the car will use the onboard data for 20 a month I'm ahead of the game.

Re: Welcome ALL 2014+ Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel owners!

Had to run out to the dentist... got a couple cracked silver fillings replaced and can't feel my face right now... So I tried Pandora on iphone over the bluetooth connection, worked great. Plugged into USB and it first started playing my playlist and then stopped all music. Hit play on Pandora on the iphone and it picked up on unconnect and started playing fine. Just have to learn the quirks I guess.

I was talking with the wife on the drive back to the office and uconnect dropped the phone from bluetooth...? "No phone paired" When I stopped I pulled out my phone and turned off bluetooth and then turned it back on and it connected right up.

First time so I will write it off... remember, 'Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action'

I wouldn't want to be the developer for Uconnect's bluetooth connection service. While there are supposedly standards in place, every phone manufacturer implements them slightly differently, even between models of the same phone company there can be slight differences. It virtually guarantees problems from time to time if it is working at all.

Funny you should say that. Another car forum I'm on more frequently (b/c I already own one) has a recent/active thread about "car hacking" that references this article: Cyber threats targeting cars, security of your cars could be breached - Autoweek

and this one: Can Your Car Be Hacked? - Feature - Car and Driver

Not too worried about it yet, but piss off the wrong geek and...

I went round and round with their LOUSY customer service reps after telling them 3 years ago that I would not accept an auto renewal agreement. Of course they said ok and then 3 years later after I let it expire ON PURPOSE while waiting on my CRD, I get a call saying I owe late fees and additional months. They kept giving me service for 3 months after the 3 years then turned off the service after no payment and said I owed them.

Thank God my credit card was expired or they might have kept billing forever. They are completely unethical. I finally got a supervisor to review my account and credit me overages after he acknowledged that they changed their policy and put me on auto renewal anyways. I thanked him then canceled immediately.

The only onboard apps that you can currently get/buy at the uConnect store are: uConnect Access, WiFi hotspot, and the Bing app that automatically comes with the uConnect access. The Via Mobile is advertised all over the manuals but is not available in the app store yet nor are any additional apps..

If you do sign up for the $20 per month WiFi hotspot to save yourself the data usage on your cell plan, I wonder if you also have to be signed up for the $20 per month uConnect Access fee that starts after the first year.

Yeah, they're pretty bad. I had a similar experience and had to threaten to get Visa involved. They backed off pretty quickly.

On the other hand, I got the free trial for my '05 Dodge 2500 Cummins (gave them a card that expired soon after) and had free service for the next 100,000 miles. I guess they forgot about me?
